Steve Bisley
Mel Gibson and Steve Bisley in a 1977 NIDA production of "The
Hostage"
Steve Bisley, The 'Biz', was working as a truck driver when he decided, on a whim, to sign up with Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). He took a day off work, went in and auditioned, and to his surprise was accepted into the school. In his time there he worked on several productions with Mel Gibson, including the stage production of "The Hostage" (pictured above), and their first feature film "Summer City", filmed in their graduation year. Following this he was cast yet again alongside Mel Gibson, this time as Jim Goose in Mad Max.
Since Mad Max he has worked fairly continuously, in feature films, television series, and commercials. For a more detailed (and accurate!) list of his screen credits than I could possibly provide here, I recommend checking out Steve Bisley's entry in the Internet Movie Database.
Steve Bisley's most current role was that of Detective Senior Constable Jack Christey on Water Rats (quite a promotion, hey Goose?). Water Rats screened its final episode on Channel 9, Tuesday August 7th, 2001.
