Well, geee. (slightly embarrassed.) That is very high praise. I really am flattered, thank you!
Building all of these is so much fun. I spend a lot of time just
contemplating each one.
Imagining it in the context of my "world", thinking about how it would be used, who it's owner is, what it's backstory is, that's as entertaining as actually building them.
As a child I used to put my hot wheels in a table vise, so that I could
precisely create smashed fenders and other "damage" without ruining the toy, so that I could have more realistic "road warrior play" with them. (this was at about 7 years old..) Then, as I got older, I would (and still do) draw post-apocalyptic landscapes, Until I got a car...
Started Maxing out my beaters, but being strapped for cash, I started to build models to expunge my need to modify cars
to survive the wasteland.
Started building plastic models at about 18 years old...I was a real ladies man...
I do it because I can't help it. It's in my head and it must come out. LOL.
That said, It is very gratifying to be able to share what I have created, especially with people who really appreciate the work that has gone into them, physically and intellectually. (all of you!) I truly appreciate the comments.
It is interesting; even at model shows, very few people really "get" the concept I have strived for, and it is the armour builders (tanks and such, the WWII guys) that really take a close look. Most of the car builders ignore them overall.
I'm starting to see more of this genre at shows, but it usually looks like something from the remake of Death Race.
Some absolutely fantastic work, to be sure, but everybody has guns and missiles and.....sigh. I guess I'm just old.
I myself am very impressed with your Mundi Mundi Lookout diorama. I have that AMT R600 myself, but the whole project is so involved, and I want to do it
right, so it has just been waiting.....
I need the 6 spoke wheels, proper tanks, etc. I haven't wanted to start until I have all the bits sourced.
BTW, where did you get the Australian conversion? The RHD dash, intakes, visor etc. are major pieces I am missing!
Looking forward to seeing it finished! (Loving the work on the trailer as well, especially the side cage walls. Exellent!)
I would be honored to have my pics on Madmaxmodels. By all means.
And thanks for the tip on the image program, I will check it out. (I'm not uber computer literate, I like mechanical things.)
