A cancellation of the Fury Road Game?
Re: A cancellation of the Fury Road Game?
Here's the source for that article.
This is unfortunate if true. I'm not a gamer myself, but a lot of people have been waiting years for a Mad Max game. I hope this isn't a harbinger of things to come.

The next proper Tomb Raider might be getting some assistance from the man who helmed God of War II, if rumors prove true. According to Game Informer's recent Loose Talk section, God of War II director and former Sony Santa Monica member, Cory Barlog, is currently helping Crystal Dynamics to realize the the next installment of Eidos and Square-Enix's celebrated action-adventure franchise. Barlog is a gaming consultant at Lone Gunman, Inc. Per the magazine:
"Since 2008 he's been working with Mad Max director George Miller on a game based on on Australia's premier near-future, gang-ridden dystopia. Loose Talk is hearing, however, that development on the project has stopped, and that Barlog has moved on to new pursuits. That's only the half of it. We've also heard that Barlog is currently working on a new Tomb Raider game. We don't have all the details at the moment, but we assume that means the full-fledged (i.e. not Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light) Tomb Raider title that developer Crystal Dynamics has cooking."
That Mad Max game was only one of Barlog's post-Sony endeavors, with the designer saying in early 2008 that he had other secret projects in the works as well. Sadly it appears, for now at least, the Road Warrior's current-gen appearance has been shelved. Hopefully not forever.
As for Miss Croft, Crystal Dynamics are due to drop the downloadable Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light this summer, with development on a true, fully baked Tomb Raider 9 -- allegedly a reboot, featuring an origin story -- underway, and an anouncement likely at E3.
This is unfortunate if true. I'm not a gamer myself, but a lot of people have been waiting years for a Mad Max game. I hope this isn't a harbinger of things to come.

I was actually excited for this project....too bad Balrog changed this to go back to the tired Tomb Raider franchise.....
Re: A cancellation of the Fury Road Game?
Given what I've been reading, I'm thinking Barlog is just a consultant on the Tomb Raider game and that he's still the director on the Mad Max game.

Re: A cancellation of the Fury Road Game?
hmmm this would be a bit of a bad turn imho. yes movie tie in games suck there is no denying that 90% of them fail.
but now that the bob has been confirmed in the movie it would have been awesome to play it in game and once more we live in a day and age of DLC and i have no doubt that both sony and miller would love to get even more money from us by introducing road warrior/mad max 2 and even mad max 1 content or vehciles for us to play out or little dreams with.
but worst case senerio someone else picks up the project and maybe this will be the rare case where a movie tie in game doesn't suck like wolverine origins.
in the end it's out of our hands and not much that can be done. course capcom swore we'd never see another marvel vs capcom game and we have one coming out next year. so who knows. i still hold out hope despite the nay sayers.

An interesting bit of information. Too bad this game didn't come to fruition...
