had a wierd idea
since the real one & Humvee driver's replica were built on f150 chassis', what about building a "mini-humungus" on a ranger chassis? think about it... narrower tires, lower suspension, given the right parts you could drop in a V8, the exhaust stacks could be regular size muffler pipe, the only real drawback is the seat would probably have to be narrower, that & trying to scale everything down almost exactly.. especailly the storage tanks on the back.

Perhaps you can find a midget body-builder to drive it, then you can build it to scale.

Re: had a wierd idea
it wouldn't be like go-kart size, a normal size person would probably be able to drive it, it'd just be a little smaller than humvee driver's. - compare a regular cab 80's f150 to a regular cab 80's ranger, that's about how much smaller it'd be.
like I said it's a weird idea.

Hell yeah! And with a midget hopped up on Muscle Milk it could be like a Japanese "super deformed" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_deformed) Humungous machine!!

Kinda like:http://www.aussieracingcars.com.au/news_aurion.htm
That would look good in a parade or show, a set of tiny cars done up like Mad Max cars all racing around

Speaking of scaled down cars
I hear that Gary Conley is close to having the first batch of his new 1/4 scale V8 stinger 609 engines, ready
http://www.conleyprecision.com/
I would really love to see one of these days, a well done 1/4 scale RC MM vehicle with a IC engine
Vids of the Super-charged version on a drag
And the Production blog in Pdf .. really worth seeing for it's incredible craftsmanship

Re: had a wierd idea
hey look... there goes the point, you just missed it.... BY A F#@KIN MILE!
you completely misunderstood the concept of the idea & then turned it into a discussion about midgets.. wtf?
if you read humvee driver's topic about his Humungus machine, you would read about how much of a hassle he got over it from cops & how massive it was... building a SLIGHTLY smaller version using a Ranger chassis would help fix some of those problems,
all I was saying was that instead of the wide 'la-z-boy" seat in humvee's it would have to be a regular size bucket seat for a car, or about that wide, not a fucking go kart seat, humvees replica has huge mud tires on wide rims, the Ranger version could use junkyard 'steelies' & regular truck tires, & because it would only be based on Humungus' machine, not a true replica you could make certian changes to it, like incorporating headlights & taillighst & mirrors into the truck itself, instead of having to add them later or rig up removable ones like humvee driver did. hell you could probably even get away with only having 1 rear axle & not have to deal with the head aches of trying to make it look like it has 2 like humvee did. and what i was saying about scaling things down is that if you try to add oil barrels to the back of the narrower chassis you won't have room for the pumps on the side, so you'd have to figure out something that was smaller, but not too small. plus alot of the early 80's rangers came with tbi v6's which you could probably dress up to look like a carb'd V8
you wouldn't even need to use a ranger, it could be a dakota, S10 or even a 80's toyota, but for the sake of keeping it some-what authentic a ranger would be your best bet.
now.. have I explained it good enough yet, or do you want to keep talking about midgets?
