Big Boppa 3D (WIP)

Hi All, First Post here
Been a long time Fan of Mad Max, I figured I would try to humbly contribute for the 30th anniversary..
So being a bit of a 3D Modeler I'm currently working on a on a Big Boppa model
Its at an Early stage, and the following pics are a Work in progress...
But I'd be happy to have some input, as I started without plans or blueprints of the XB Sedan, that turn out to be quite hard to find on the net.
So at this stage, I'm trying to get the lines right and still got a quite a way to go in detailing, before I complete it
The background is at this time, also crudely done...
So here goes...

....Having just stumbled on the Mad Max 3D Animation thread, I'd like to precise this "home" project is not related, not that I wouldn't love it

And in Anticipation, of the awaited rant on real-life falcons with V8 groans & fumes, I'd love to mates, but living on the other side of the world in a condo won't cut it
And last, would someone here have the length and width of the XB Sedan's roof, I'd be grateful, as I still seem to lack some curvature in the window posts

Ok, so I started a Build thread on the Scratch Made Cars dot net forum
If ever anybody here is interested in seeing progress done on this 3D model, please feel free to drop by..

I'll still come and post some Milestone progress pics once a while.
Nonetheless if anybody here has or finds a Falcon XB Sedan blueprint, please post it here or contact me..
I really want to make this model accurately and as close as possible to the original Big Boppa.
Thanks.

Hi there.
Nice to see your work! Yeah, its pretty hard just doing everything right without real blueprints,
but you're on the right track.
Maybe you should take a closer look at your boppas front, it looks a bit off (a bit to big)-
If you like i'll send you some screen captures.
cheers,
Dirk

Hi Dirk, Thanks for your input..
I'm sensing the headlight dishes are maybe a bit too big..
I have since raised the bumper a few inches, and shortened the side panels which meet the bumper
Also the virtual camera used is wide angle...so that also might account a bit for it
The front "grill" is mostly a place holder, I haven't worked much on it yet..
At This time I'm working on the wheel flares that need some amount of beefing up
As for snapshots I currently use an Hd version of the film, so I've got some nice details, wherever there's not too much motion blur, due to excessive Speed
And of course a lot of the Fan cars pics found on this site
Thanks.

Excellant work!
Wonder if the supposed video game will be based on MM1?????
Imagine a 3D car chase/ shoot em up game where you can play different characters?
You mentioned your working on the grill still... just note that while the grill is pretty much upright, the front extensions of the guards angle forwards at the top and are not vertical.

Thanks for your support!
Yeah it's a work in Progress, still lots to do
As for 3D racing games, I don't know about the official MM game, but a lot of them have communities, who often make specific Mods and extra vehicles, when a track & vehicle editor is available to the fans.
So I'm hopping, once I've finished this model and spawned out from it, the MFP 508 Interceptor & maybe March Hare, I might do some low polygon versions to incorporate in such a mod.
One of these games/simulation I discovered lately is Flat Out 2, a real nice derby style game with wreckable cars & environment, but it seems their modding forum is not so active now...
The Modders have probably moved on to a more highlighted recent game, also there's a few open source racing sims around, that might do the trick..
Anyway, first I must complete this model

Looks nice!
As for games, maybe you should contact lord humungus because he's making a MM mod for GTA San Andreas.

Thanks for the info, do you know on which board he hangs out, there are quit a few GTA mod forums out there...
or is he a member here? ( sorry, total noob here)
Edit: Ok, forget I asked, found him (the member List is also my friend

)
Well I'll wait a bit before bothering him, which I'll probably do when my model will be finished & optimized in a low poly version.
cheers

The XB sedan is coming along, slowly but surely
Still got some dents & creases to sort out on the body, window posts to attach,
And once I get some measurements, I'll hopefully be able to conform the model and start gouging out the screw sinks on the flares, add the front direction lights, door handles, side mirror etc.....
Edited : updated this pic with some smoothing defaults sorted out
