Stupid eBay

Probably old news to you all, but eBay, in a knee-Jerk reaction to finding that the Shooter at Virginia Tech used some gun parts purchased on their auctions, has recently banned the sale of (basically) "all gun parts necessary for a gun to operate".

On one hand this is inconvenient as I'm currently trying to acquire some parts for both my H&R single shot and my Mossberg pump action. (20Ga Slug barrels for both and a .22Lr barrel for the H&R)

Off to Gunbroker I go, I guess.

It just amazes me that anyone can blame a tool, an object for what a human being does with it.

This policy not thought out, it's unreasonable and it's Un-reasoned.

It's taking culpability for a crime away from the perpetrator and placing it on an Object and those that might sell the object.

I just think that if we wish to reduce crime we need to concentrate on the criminal, not on a mis-used tool.

Seriously, though.. Some of my Survivalist acquaintances swear by the H&R/NEF shotguns... a lot of these Prefer the 20ga

What I now have (On this particular firearm, anyway) is a .410/20ga Convertible H&R.

What I now have (On this particular firearm, anyway) is a .410/20ga Convertible H&R.

I'm pretty sure it's a 12 gauge, though. It was my dad's, and he just recently gave it to me. Haven't really had much chance to check it out, since I generally stick to rifles and handguns.

H&R/NEF makes some pretty crappy handguns, though. The shotguns look okay.

Most reviews I see report that for the price, the .22 caliber H&R's are as tough and reliable as you can get. "You can get much better, but be prepared to spend a lot more" according to one of my Gun-Geeks.

I'm pretty happy with my 949 so far.
Been looking into a but more powerful handgun recently.
Ruger GP100, perhaps. So far, they come highly recommended.

You get what you pay for. Sometimes, not very often, you get more, which I find to be the case with Rugers.
Can't break 'em. Loved my Super Blackhawk... love my SRH.

Looking at my H&R right now... Bay State 12 gauge w/rifled choke. Seems well made for a starter shotgun.

Many years ago before I had my licence I was handed down the single barrel 12 gauge shoty by my father ,previously his fathers.
That day I CUT IT DOWN to represent Max sawn off. It was only after my Dad bashed me and started crying that I relised what I had done. Now that I am a grownup(sometimes) It is the one regret that I have in my life and wish I could take it back.
It did look cool though.

Yeah, I don't plan on ever selling it for sentimental reasons. I have another shotgun... 12 gauge side by side, over 100 years old, handed down from my great grandfather. It's worn, weathered and has been repaired with leather strapping and nails. It looks so cool that I was thinking about putting it on display in a shadow box.

Cutting down a shotgun will land you in prison here. That's what they went after Randy Weaver [Ruby Ridge Massacre] for... and it ended badly.
