I call, SHOW ME YOUR CARDS

Unfortunately, that is the way it usually works...my wife's uncle builds multi-million dollar houses here in Georgia. He had a "highly recommended" roofing contractor do some work for him and they did about 6 houses for him before they went out of business for some reason or another. First big wind storm...all six houses lost 50% of their shingles...it looked like they used a nail about every 3 feet.

Did the homeowner go after the roofer? Not hardly...they bashed the contractor's reputation until he paid for all six houses to have new roofs. When you hire someone like that...ultimately you have to "cowboy up" and take your lumps.

To me cars are a bit different...

I know nothing of Gordon nor will I feign knowledge of either side of the argument...I have heard through the board he is a super nice guy and one heckuva car builder.

From a customer service point of view...the guy getting the check for completing the car is responsible for producing the level of car he and the customer agreed upon. Surely there is a signed contract somewhere which includes a line about "defects in workmanship"? Although...automobile restorations do not carry a 5 year 50,000 mile warranty.

From a common sense point of view...if you choose to have a car built by Gordon or anyone else for that matter and you choose to opt for the "Not so premium" package...you cannot expect the car to be a show winner. Besides that...they are old cars...they are going to break and need replacement parts. Should Gordon go above and beyond in a restoration he is only being paid 50% of his normal fee? Absolutely not. Give me a safe vehicle with all the options I selected to pick up girls in and am golden!Image

Hit it on the head, March Hare. I'm not sure what bug crawled up this guy's ass, but it is infuriating to me to see what's going on. What the hell did Gordon do that was so bad that warrants this crap? I'd think if Gordon was guilty of shoddy workmanship that someone would have questioned it a long time ago.

If it's a case of a budget build, you've got no reason to bitch. If you paid $80k to $100k for the top of the range model, I'm sure the car would be gone through with a fine toothed comb. But even then, it's still a 30 year old car! Sh#t does break and does need fixing whether restored or not! If you want something to run forever with little chance of problems and perfect fit and finish on everything, buy a damn Honda or BMW! If you're gonna buy a 20-30 year old Ford (or Holden, or Chevy, or Mopar), it's the price you pay for driving such a machine.

I may not agree with the negative posts, but dammit if you're gonna put up posts like that BACK IT UP WITH SOMETHING!!!!!!!!Image

He'll probably just slink off into the shadows and appear with yet another cheezy ID. A true internet troll. Some twisted pleasure in causing a riff. There were two new IDs that popped up at the same time on the same topics. It sure makes anyone playing along with it look involved. How many have come before? How many have been called out in Thunderdome that have never shown up?

More will come later.

It is the way of the web.
