Right before the Lord Humongous dies, the camera shows a photo of someone in a uniform. Doesn't that uniform resemble a Waffen SS uniform? If this is so, then could the Lord Humongous be a refugee Waffen SS officer? The camera, admittedly, doesn't show this pic for more than (maybe) a few seconds, but that uniform in the photo looks familiar.

John,whats the deal with these questions??the guys in Lord H's gang used alotta storm trooper nazi sh*t in thier gang.Byron Kennedy and George Miller I guess wanted a sort of 3rd reich evilness to the bad guys in The Road Warrior.

Lord 'Mungy has some sort of accent (sounds a lot like our current Governator, here in Cali), and perhaps the gun belonged to his father or grandfather, and that was a pic of him...


Adds a little humanity to Humungus, if you get beyond the psychopathic disregard for human life thing.

I always thought all the Deathsheads on the vehicles and in HUMUNGUS' gun case etc. just meant that - thats the logo HUMUNGUS has chosen for his army of VERMIN, notice almost every vehicle has a Deathshead somewhere on them - it don't mean NAZI, thats just a coincidence, the symbol of the slightly sideways skull and crossbones, is distinct and recognizable as simply DEATH, and thats what the VERMIN represent too - you cross their path and your dead.

Mungy's army included "Smega Crazies", Gayboy Bezerkers" and worst of all.."arse outta his tousers Wez"

I'm getting a bit "Anorack" here, but those Ruger Super Blackhawk like what Mungy has in the box weren't brought out till ..like..the mid 50's, man!..it ain't no SS relic!

Maybe he swapped in the revolver because the war souvenir Luger just didn't have the stopping power....?

The Death's Head in the case is most definitely the Nazi 'Totenkopf'. The bones crossed behind the skull, missing lower jaw, and three-quarter view are very specific in that context. I never drew any conclusions that Humungous had any fascist or Nazi dreams, just some petty warlord who happen to have the case (found somewhere or maybe family relic)and adopted the symbol.

I meant the pic may have been of his father/grandfather/great uncle on his mother's side twice removed, and maybe the gun was that person's too, but not necessarily a war relic. Or maybe he just keeps the photo in there. Or maybe he doesn't even know the person in the picture, but his favorite show was Hogan's Heroes, and the German uniform reminds him of that, and takes him back...to another time...

Don't get me started on the faults with the Nazi Uniforms in Hogan's Hero's......you just opened a big can of worms...er..sauerbauten

Not to nit pick, but the gun in question is a Smith & Wesson N frame, most likely a Model 29 (.44 magnum) or maybe a Model 25 (.45 Long Colt). Also the case is clearly fitted to that particular gun w/the telescopic sight. The N frame .44 mag came out 1955 and telescopic sights on handguns, probably after 1970.
