Miller must have been influenced by the messianic messages that Max evoked as savior of the civilized world.
These messages were subtle in MM2. Thunderdome saw all pretense dropped. The Gulag seen has roots in Old Testament prophecy. According to the Bible the Messiah would ride through the East gate on a white pony/donkey during Passover .
The Gulag seen was in parody of this event that saw Jesus recognised as the Christ. When Max was banished from civilization by riding backwards on a pony/horse the message was meant to be clear, that Auntie was in control and was adopting the mantle of supreme deity, by exhiling the reluctant hero in Biblical fashion.

Yeah Rock,a couple of years ago MTV said THIS JUST IN ROB HALFORD FORMER LEAD VOCALIST FOR THE LEGENDARY HEAVY METAL BAND JUDAS PRIEST IS A BONERFIED POLE SMOKER LOL no really man he qoute un qoute came out of the closet and said he put gay messages in some of the lyrics in their songs so now i 'cautiuosly 'listen to thier music LOL now i'm thinking the song Hell Bent For Leather prob meant Rob shoving a hamster up his ass or somthing.
