I wish someone would re-do an old game I had on my Commodore 64 when I was a kid. Yes, I am an old guy at 32. I think was called 'Car Wars' or 'Autoduel'. It was a really fun game where you started of like Max (with nothing but your attitude, and a 'hooptie'), and eventually became a 'Humongous' type of guy. It would sell...... Now I remember that SSI had a takeoff on the idea. Both made boatloads of money. The 'Wasteland' and 'Fallout' franchises were fun but lost focus. Hey, the guy that made John Richard Ruell Tolkien's famous trilogy into movies was considered a financial loss too. Where is he now? Steve Jackson is still alive......

I agree Brasher!
I don't know how I forgot to mention that one. Actually, I do... The computer that I played it on along with the media on which it was written has long since 'gone to heaven'. Or the garbage dump, take your pick. I could not play it anymore after I got a faster computer and the other drivers would travel at light speed and um, end my career in the first race. Anyways, I'd love to get my hands on a copy. Maybe a software developer somewhere will get a clue about this forgotten (but not by me or you) genre.

Well, it's rude to double-post but I found a solution to my problem. On
http://www.bhlegend.com/php/show.php3?game=1219
I found both Autoduel and Deathtrack for free. Also utilities to slow down my CPU so they actually work. Deathtrack doesn't work like I remember, but considering it is free..... worth it. Thanks again Brasher, I forgot this one even existed. If only the sound would totally function, @#$@@%@^*&*!!!!!

No worries mate.
I have only checked back on this post now, I should have sent you the file.
I did exactly what you did, it's amazing how many old games you can find to bring back a few memories and take up a bit of time.
DEATHTRACK ROCKS. I would love to get a copy of the original instruction book, I remember it was pretty cool, but mine is long gone bugger it!. I nearly lost it at school one day when trying to photocopy it for someone else, as a teacher said it was 'too violent'!!!

No apologies necessary, dude.
"Too violent"? What a load. Bet the old bag would have a coronary if she took a look at what is available now.
My original copy was hacked, so I had no manual. I had better things to spend my money on, like women, beer, and textbooks (in that order). Take care Brasher.

AHH! Steve Jackson...I remember a time when I also played OGRE...remember that one? It's about a lot of little people in little tanks and little hovercrafts trying to stop one REALLY big A.I. tank. Car wars and Little Green Men...those were the days...
There was another one that my buddy played...talk about slow (the game, not my buddy), it was Road War 2000. It was on the Apple format...IIc...if memory serves.

Bronze, I think you can read minds..... I was going to flap my gums about Roadwar 2000 too. It's available free too now. You beat me to it. Ogre was also good, but I remember getting REALLY irate after the Ogre destroyed my entire army with no effort. Now I know how my joysticks all got destroyed. Hahahahaha! Roadwar Europa! (There, I said it first) It is also available I think......
Well, those games were designed to operate on systems that were less powerful than today's cellphone, so..... Imagine what they could do now. Roadwar 2000 is about 113K, and my cellphone holds half a meg...... Hope somebody gets a clue....
