Whatever happened to the March Hare cops?

We know that the car was wasted in the Nightrider chase. But what ever happened to the guys in the car - Sarse and Scuttle? There was no more mention of them in the movie, and I don't remember seeing them after their crash. If you look closely when the tow truck arrives on the crash scene, you can see someone casually walking around the wrecked March Hare, wearing all black, with dark hair. So I'm going to assume here that the crash wasn't fatal. But then why wouldn't we see them again? Not at the station, not at the hospital... nowhere else I recall. Anyone know what happened in the original script? (I only have the RW script). Maybe they were just edited out for the rest of the movie? Not that it's a big deal - just curious.

Sorry if this has been discussed. I didn't find it in the archives.

Yeah, you can see one of them stagger around as if they've just gotten out of the rolled INTERCEPTOR, but maybe they took some time off or something. - But check out poor CHARLIE, the blokes got atleast a year of micro surgery to the throat etc. But he's back at work in what looks like just a fortnite.

Here's a theory: March Hare wasn't based out of the "Halls of Justice". We see Big Bopper join the pursuit, and of course, Max, But March Hare is already in pursuit when we first see them. Perhaps they picked up the chase in their own jurisdiction. Based out of Sun City, maybe? He (Nightrider) breaks out of custody, wastes a probie, and: "we've been on him ever since" Which implies March Hare has been in pursuit since the beginning. Ie: they're not local.

Max's yellow car is an Interceptor and has a different paint job than the ordinary Pursuit cars, but this theory explains why Pursuit March Hare and Pursuit Big Bopper are not identical. These cars are not from the same jurisdiction!

Hmm. Interesting theory. Also further exemplifies the "societal breakdown" theme too, or at least the breakdown in public services: a loosely knit, underfunded and sparsely staffed highway patrol arrangement, perhaps from various jurisdictions, but still using a central (unseen) HQ, i.e., the dispatcher we hear throughout the first chase scene, who certainly seems familiar enough to occasionally go on in less than formal police language.

Still, there is just not enough evidence to make too many conclusions for me about the structure of the MFP. We get this much: 4 featured patrolmen and one officer from the featured (and decrepit) Halls of Justice, 2 patrolmen from an undetermined location, one possibly dedicated mechanic for the local "Hall", a possibly dedicated dispatcher, one "police commissioner" of sorts. Make your own conclusions...

I didn't think the different types of stripes on the car's meant anything like different jurisdictions. I thought it was a 'Rank thing'

[div]I badly expressed myself. I wanted to say that Big Bopper is not from the same jurisdiction as March Hare which has a different and barely equipment.[/div]

I would assume that in an area of high crime relying on decaying police force it would be unlikely to see what appears to be the entire department at the halls of justice at any one time. They would have simply been out working whenever Max and Goose weren't.
