Max's jacket in Fury Road

Towards the end of Thunderdome, during the vehicle finale, Max loses his jacket.

Now, obviously most fans are going to be excited to see our hero Max in Fury Road, but that jacket is almost a part of his persona. Do you think he will have it in Fury Road?

I'm not sure if he has it when he's walking towards the sunset at the end of BTD, but theoretically, Miller can let Max have the jacket in Fury Road and have us assume, as an audience, that he simply went back to get it after the finale was done.

So what does everyone think? Will Max have the jacket in Fury Road or not?

I wondered this same thing and I really have no clue. It seems like Max will get his jacket back and be a little more worn out for Fury Road.

Then again if you look at how far Thunderdome broke away from the previous movies you spot a pattern developing. Today's audiences wouldn't recognize Mad Max, so there's no need to bring back his jacket. We're getting farther from the original Max. Although, Miller said a number of times he wanted the 4th movie to be more like the originals, so the chances of it returning are a little better.

I don't like talking about chances. From me it's usually a yes or no. But in this case I'd have to say the chances of seeing the jacket again are very slim.

I believe the sunset shot includes his jacket as does a publicity photo on http://www.max.org in the "life of max" section. That particular photo has max sitting on a cliff holding the same spear he walks with in the sunset shot. I assume its meant to infer that he still had the jacket at the end.

Too bad RWF (max.org) is gone. God damn that site was awesome. The author has to bring it back under a new domain or something.

Anyway, I think Max should have a jacket in Fury Road. It deosn't have to be the original, he could have found another one (he is a scavenger after all). I really think he wouldn't look right without it.

If you listen closely , in THUNDERDOME when the jacket gets ripped off, you can hear a tearing sound, i think one of those shoulders came away from the back in that scene.

so the jacket is f**ked, then again, check out that stitching on the left shoulder from the BEARCLAW attack, MAX can sew.

I personally don't think the jacket will be back, but the leather pants will still be there, can't see MAX in denim or cargos.

I seem to recall that Mel owns the original leather jacket from MM2 and 3. The only person who can give us the right answer if the jacket will be back, IS MEL ...

yeah, i was never really sure what he thought of MAX since you never hear him talk about it at all. But i think he owes a sh*tload to MAX ROCKATANSKY, that guy gave him the stardom he has today.
