From the caption, I thought George Novak was at the wheel, and my guess is there is a small ramp just out of the shot that the car was launched off. Anyone who was there wanna fill us in on the details???

Hi all.
I was looking at that opening page shot again today, excellent picture by the way...but I must wonder how that Landau came down. From building the replicas I already know that the rear quarter needs to be cut to allow the correct suspension travel. Or else the tyre (which extends beyond the guard touches constantly on the rear quarter panel, and the car is un-drivable). On the landau this section is not cut. Non cutting would make the car un-drivable unless the suspension was rock solid hard, in which case it would still be un-drivable. Unless they actually have the join between the two tyers to allow the body to fall into the gap between the tyers. But even if this was so the tyre will rip off the lattice work out side the cars body. I even thought that it might have had a solid shocker, but that would most likely get punched through the mounting point. Ha Ha ... a few old tyers above the diff perhaps? Bungi cord bump stops? They must have addressed this issue to have the original film car drivable.
Big super shock absorbent bump stops must be the answer.
Hmmmm.. but still I reckon that something must have given in that rear quarter area.. Unless that car landed cushion soft.
More Hmmmm... Show us a pic of how the car looked the second after it landed Peter.[/font]
