Unfortunately, they didn't issue the MAD MAX Special Edition DVD here, in Italy. Thre was a DVD release, okay - but pretty ordinary and without extras. I suspect it exclusively features the godawful American dubbing - I didn't purchase it.

Let's hope!

I'll tell you what, if Mad Max is released in Australia with nothing but 5.1, widescreen and American dubbing, they can cram it, if it can be released in the US with Australian dialogue it bloody well can here aswell.

And some bloody extras would be nice, i mean the movie companies don't mind making millions out of the public, but when we want some extras it's like we want the world

A little more info from EzyDVD:

===============================================

Dear Customer,

Thank you for shopping with EzyDVD.

We're happy to announce that Roadshow has recently re-scheduled the original Mad Max for a release on September 11. This exciting new DVD will be in DTS and anamorphic widescreen and will feature many extras exclusive to the DVD release.

As all original orders are quite old, and many customers may have expired or new credit cards, we have cancelled all existing orders in our system. However, you're welcome to re-order this title for the price of $32.95 on our website at this location:

I'm surprised that you Aussies get saddled with the crapo dubbed version, I wouldn't have thought it would even be available over there. Another example of us Americans "helping" the rest of the world with what "we" think is best. ( I'm an isolationist myself, and would rather we took care of our own problems rather than everyone elses.) You guys (Australians) don't do that, & the world doesn't hate you. I don't see Osama trying to get rid of the infidel Australians!Image

On a related note, When you go to buy (or see on TV for that matter) MM2, do you get Mad Max 2, or The Road Warrior? are there any differences (besides the title in the opening credits) between the two?

My DVD is packaged as "Mad Max 2", but when you go to the on-screen menu page (which really doesn't offer anything exciting) it shows as "Road Warrior". ....no expense spared! Wouldn't have thought it could've been too hard to make an Aussie version.

Why are people assuming the Aussie DVD will be dubbed?

javascript:openWin('pop_up_profile.asp?profile=80','profile','toolbar=0,location=0,status=0,menubar=0,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=475,height=340') started this idea back in June, and javascript:openWin('pop_up_profile.asp?profile=19','profile','toolbar=0,location=0,status=0,menubar=0,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=475,height=340') repeated it above, but I can see no indication on the EzyDVD pages that this version will be dubbed. I cannot imagine they would NOT use the original audio track.

Actually, I never said anything about the DVD. I was expressing surprise that any EXISTING versions had the dubbed audio. I assumed ( incorrectly, maybe) that the dubbed version was common in Oz. Good or bad, our (American) versions do seem to be the prevailing ones, as evidenced by Wrinkles DVD of MM2 which has "Road Warrior" on the title screen. If for trivias' sake if nothing else, I hope you guys get both tracks as options on your DVD's like we did (FINALLY) over here. Similarly, when (crossing my fingers) the 25th anniversary special edition MM2 DVD comes out, I hope we get MM2 & Road Warrior versions. I'd love to see it with the proper title like the rest of the world does.
