Back from a hiatus!

I made this video after exploring how the stories in Mad Max movies were made.
Turns out the process of making those movies was very interesting and it evolved over decades
with a ton of influences and sometimes really strange practices.

I hope you enjoy this video and if you did, drop your comments, subscribe to the Mad Max Bible and wait for part 2
where I talk about how Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and Fury Road were made.

Cheers!

Great analysis and content as always Taipan, your enthusiasm for these films holds no bounds.

I am looking forward to Thunderdome/Fury Road along with the vehicles of Fury Road.

I recall you saying there is very little information available on Thunderdome. Is there any particular reason for that?

I often wonder how Thunderdome might have turned out if Byron Kennedy had not passed away, would we have seen a different film, perhaps one that does not divide the Mad Max Community?

Thanks man!

Regarding Thunderdome...
There's a few reasons why there isn't much said publicly about the making of Thunderdome. People responsible for backstories and concept art are not particularly keen on talking about it (Hayes, Ed Verraux) nor sharing the information. They do have their own reasons I'm sure, some of them hold grudges, some would get in trouble for revealing too much.. I mean it's 35 years since Thunderdome and I still hear some folks saying some mad stuff about the production of this movie but then they say "But don't you ever tell anyone". It's kind of bizarre.
Steve Bisley in that respect is awesome because he doesn't give a shit and just straight up debunks stuff.

I asked myself the question if Thunderdome would've been much different if Byron was still alive. But the answer is - not really. The story was pretty much completed when they were location scouting which unfortunately led to Byron's untimely death. So if I were to put blame on anyone for how disjointed Thunderdome is, that would be Hayes. He straight up hated the cars in MM2 and wanted them to look like bugs in Thunderdome. So there's that. And - in my opinion - he was also responsible for something really scummy when they were making MMBT and he never admitted to it, something that arguably ruined Thunderdome for a lot of people. I'll talk about that exact thing in my next video.

Thanks!

I heard your podcast and noticed you got some info from the Road Warrior Wikia. Noticed because I wrote most of the articles on that Wikia, I'm it's admin/moderator or whatever. Small world! :D
Looking forward to your podcasts as well!
