I'm doing a research project for uni and I need help!! I'm conducting research about the use of CGI in film and I'm focusing mainly on mad max, lotr and star wars as they've all had new films come out in the last few years.
Fury Road is interesting compared to the other two as it barely relies on CGI and most of the stunts are done in real life which I thought was cool. I was just wondering what people thought of the fact they used minimal CGI - whether it worked better than relying on it?? Any opinions would be great!
(Any responses will be recorded anonymously for my project!)

I thought it was great! When you have a movie story/script that is based on cars, car action, car stunts, car racing, street racing. Why would you need to use CGI? So much has been done with automobiles in movies/shows the past 50 plus years there is nothing that cant be done without CGI. CGI is a tool not a substitute for creating a movie. CGI can replace actors too, why do that? If anything even if you don't like Mad Max Fury road story. The way it was made should be the basis of how any action movie should be made. They pretty much used the CGI to dress/doll up what was already filmed. To make an already amazing one off shot look even more fantastic! CGI works better for pure fantasy films like Starwars, Startrek, Fantasy/SciFi. Things and situations that flat don't exist in real life. Bad part about CGI is when cheaply done it looks worse than some of the oldschool animation in movies like 1981, Clash of the titans.

CGI was used loads in Fury Road, just in the right way. I mean, they put Tom Hardy's head on a stuntman and it looked fine ... that's a cool use of the technology
Re: Use of CGI in Mad Max: Fury Road????
There is CGI in almost every shot of Fury Road so I'm not sure it qualifies as a movie that uses minimal CGI.
Re: Use of CGI in Mad Max: Fury Road????
I believe it's been qualified as 'minimal use of CGI' because all of the stunts were done with real cars (with the exception of the storm sequence).
However it's caked with CGI all over, so I guess make your pick what your definition of minimal CGI is
