Cranky Frank

Post by Hetzer »

After Mad Max 2 dio my original plan was to build Razor Cola, but it seems that third interceptor kit in a row was bit much :o So currently I'm building new Tamiya Panther D 'cause I'm mainly armor guy when it comes to models. BUT... I have plans for Fury Road vehicle and none other than Cranky Frank 8-) Now, my plan is to use amt 1950 Chevy pickup as base vehicle, there probably is Holden available as resin kit but given all modifications needed I wouldn't like to work with resin on this. I don't know if correct injection kit is out there...? And where is the fun in using correct body from the start.

I've already posted this question on other area but if anyone has pictures (other than found on google) of this machine, they would be most helpful. Mainly I'm interested detail pics of engine and engine bay.

No pictures yet, sorry (actually chevy is still at post office  )

Love this vehicle! Starting with '50 Chevy means some major modifications, but after your excellent work on the Twin-Turbo Landau...can't wait to see how this goes! <3

PS: Sorry I don't have any pics or anything, I assume you've seen the images on the non-forum part of this website, and the Snapper and Frank video. Just wanted to wish good luck and junk!

Yeah, it's handfull allright  that's why I'm not aiming to 100% correct replica. I have already done little something to chevy's body, just to get idea of where to start. I also found couple of later model Chevys from other sites, 54 highboy and 53 panel wagon which hopefully will be useful. But after I got all needed junk from which to build body from, I'll start to post some pics. Already have suitable tires and that's a start 8-)

Edit. After looking through some pics of '53 Chevy panel, it just might be that I'll use that as base vehicle. It gives me near correct rear fender shape and front end should be bit easier to modify. Also body is more rigid as it's one piece compared to '50 Chevy separate cargo bed. Still handfull

Those are some incredible pictures! You could make a perfectly accurate model with that info! You don't happen to have such an enormous collection of pictures for any other vehicles, do you?

First incision and we have a pick up truck

Base vehicle is Revell '53 Chevy panel wagon, it's pretty good body to start as rear fender shape is close to correct. Just need s some trimming on rear light area.

Wow, the shape is really close in alot of places! It isn't perfectly to scale though, Holden FJ's were smaller - about two feet shorter.

That is just one of the things I can live with, I'm trying to capture the spirit of the vehicle so 100% accuracy measure wise isn't that important. It's going to be bit Frankenstein, like name suggests ;)
