lost diorama opening chase

Post by mahenoguy »

I put up pics of this model years ago , but thought I'd re-post some photo's in their own thread so as not to pollute Hetzer's awesome diorama thread .I built this model in about 2008 ....kit bashed out of 2 model macks...custom flat-bed trailer ( all components for tri axle cast in resin from original bogey arrangement ) a ford ratrod for buggy components ...aoshima interceptor and a very much modified GTO model as landau wreck .
The model was never finished however as my shed burned to the ground with this ( plus a lifetime of other modelling projects ) in early 2009 .to quote the feral kid "it lives now only in my memories "I only found the pics while trying to explain the model to a friend recently . I would love to see a modeller of Hetzer's calibre recreate this iconic scene.....or more to the point seconds earlier with the rear-ender that caused the wreck .I had planned to rebuild my diorama...but Fury road has brought up so many other modelling projects that the Mundi Mundi lookout diorama may be on the back burner for a bit .

That looks great and as said it's real shame to lost something of this caliber, the amount of work gone into this is mind blowing.

THIS IS SO GOOD, IT'S ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS.
I saved some pics of this and put them up on Facebook and it got quite alot of attention, i think even Emil minty liked it.

I have my R- model Mack kit unbuilt still, and this is exactly what I have in mind for it. Just need to source lots of bits and pieces, and like you, have so many projects going this one just hasn't gotten off the ground yet. Out of curiosity, what did you do for an RHD - dashboard? Scratch built? Awesome awesome job by the way. Such a shame it's been lost. My deepest condolences.

hi Interdictor...The right hand dash was an ebay item , Auslow is the brand as is the sun visor and air start tank , all resin castings . The body of my mack was the AMT r685 , but the chassis , rims , all the chrome badges engine and running gear are from the AMT DM 800 ( with the off-set cabin ). The bull bar was custom built out of styrene sheet and rod .I had finished the rear view mirrors with movie correct struts only the day before it was destroyed .I am currently building a razor Cola in polished diecast 1:25 scale from a much modified DAA mad max 1 interceptor . will post progress shots in their own thread shortly

I 'member when you originally posted this. Such beautiful work. I'd be heartbroken to lose all my work.

I remember you telling me about it too after posting pic of my Mack truck, a tragic lost.
I did the conversion with the same kits too, had to extended the chassis about 12mm on the DM 800 kit to make it work.
