Spintires - offroad trucking sim

Spintires is a pretty cool game, it might not appeal to all MM fans since it's all about fighting through mud and trees, fording rivers etc, but there's a lot of custom vehicles & maps for it including things very reminiscent of the War Rig and Doof Wagon (plus a few like the one above).

Just thought I'd mention it since it's not a very mainstream game so some folks might not have seen it ;)

Love this game. The mod community for it is huge. Can't wait for terrain deformation to become the norm in driving sims.

I am working on mods for GTA but if people are willing to aid me in transfering them over I could proabably shift some models over for spin tires. just imagine driving around in the silver interceptor or destorying the ground in thunderdomes andamooka buggy. I am willing to learn spin tires if people are willing to help me transfer our models for it.

That would be fun, although strange :). I don't have the knowledge to help but hopefully someone else will.

I watched the trailer for this and was intrigued, but it was hard to tell whether I was viewing cut scenes or actual gameplay or what, so I was hesitant to order it.

Can one use Xbox 360 controllers with this game? And is it legitimately fun for people who like driving games?

I've played it with a 360 controller ;) I found it fun, it's a different pace from normal driving games, all about you vs. the terrain - I love watching truck trials, and this is very much like that. The downloadable trial can be modded a bit and gives a fair flavour for the gameplay (though it doesn't have all the features).

I'd love it if someone would make realistic rock crawling and Formula Off Road games, too

Thanks. One of my all-time favorite driving games is 4X4 Evolution 2. I love its go-anywhere gameplay and the wide variety of terrains and customizable trucks. Sadly, it doesn't look like anybody's ever going to do an updated sequel with modern physics, and no other driving game out there truly duplicates the Evo experience.

Yeah, I used to really enjoy Screamer 4x4, but again it doesn't look like there will ever be an updated version :(

I have another game called "Off Road Drive", which is a somewhat unreliable Russian production ... the camera angles are infuriating, it crashes, and some of the levels are too restrictive, but when it works it's amazingly good.

Ho hum :?

There's Rigs of Rods and Beam NG out there to check out too.

Rigs of Rods is ... ok in some circumstances. I enjoyed it for a little while.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Beam NG turns out, though I don't think my PC will run it
