I'm guessing if you're a die hard Mad Max fan like I am the answer would be NONE.
How about ranking your top 5 movies of the 80's? Mine are:
1. Mad Max 2
2. Platoon
3. Back to the Future
4. TESB
5. The Thing
I actually had a hard time with this list as the 80's was such a great movie decade. I almost put Ghostbusters at #5, I'm sure many people would put it at #1, but they probably didn't see MM2 lol. Others I almost listed in the top 5 were Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Trek 2, Blade Runner(one really boring scene with Rachel, otherwise a top 5 for sure), and Top Gun. Never saw Roger Rabbit.
The worst year in the 80's for movies seemed to be 1987, save for Lethal Weapon and Robocop. My worst experience ever at the movies was when I saw Cocoon 2: The Return on a Friday Night(23 Nov?) and then Scrooged the next night(24 Nov?): Back to back bore-fests!
Return of the Jedi and Star Trek 5(WTF?) were my most disappointing movies of the decade. Firestarter was more embarrassing/forgettable than disappointing.
My #1 Guilty pleasure of all time is 1989's Let it Ride. Another reason to love the 80's!

Mad Max 1 was out in France in the early eighties. So I would say "Mad Max 1"...
Re: What 80's movies are better than Mad Max 2?
This won't be hard considering most of my favorite films are from the '70s and '80s.
My top ten '80s films after "Mad Max 2" include...
1. The Thing (remake)
2. Once Upon A Time In America
3. The Junkman
4. Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome
5. Blow Out
6. Day Of The Dead
7. Robocop
8. Gone In 60 Seconds 2 (unfinished)
9. The Blob (remake)
10. Commando
I feel like I am missing some, but this should do.

Seems more like you could say RW kicked off the 80's with a huge list of great classic movies! One thing ive noticed is that there aren't to many newer movies that I will sit a watch over and over like most from my childhood in the 80's and 90's. And ive seen a lot of what I feel were great movies the last 14 years! I know Point Break was 1990 but my wife and I will watch it if we catch it on TV like we have never seen it before, hey its a simple fun movie lol How about Real Genus , Highspirits, Short circuit , Roger Rabbit, Cobra, Over the Top, Iron Eagle, Beetlejuice, Christine, Bloodsport, The Day After and Outsiders these are in my top 50 id say for the 80's Short Circuit would be last (50) lol Most others I love have been mentioned already!

All my favorite genre movies from the 80s, movies that I never tire of watching over and over again, have already been mentioned save for one. Dragonslayer.
And speaking of Dragonslayer, when the hell are we going to get that on bluray?

Absolutely, that is one of the best of the 80's. But it is just difficult to choose. There are so many films made, and also so many good ones. But it also depends on your taste. I also like those old horror and sifi B-movies.
But to say which ones are better then MM2? MM2 is just at the top with all the other best 80's movies for me.

"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

I really like Dragonslayer a lot, and I don't even have issues with the score like a lot of people complain about. I think Peter MacNichol's movie career peaked right then and there!biolumen wrote:All my favorite genre movies from the 80s, movies that I never tire of watching over and over again, have already been mentioned save for one.
