Hello, thought you might find this interesting, already got my preorder in http://nextcargame.com/
Looks like a nice wrecking racing game You buy old bangers and build them up to take part in races, or just slap some spare parts up and head for a demolition derby
Physics seem less arcade-ish than in FlatOut, and they say they are going more for the original concept behind the FO games.
I've seen the demo bugbear put out there. check it out on youtube. what I like about it is. watch the demo's then think of the landau crash scene and tell me softbody physics wouldn't be perfect for a mad max game.
Bugbear has cancelled their kickstarter and are looking at different funding options
Bad news for all racing fans as the Kickstarter campaign for Bugbear’s Next Car Game has been cancelled. According to the Finish team, it became obvious to them that the Kickstarter campaign would not meet its goal, therefore it decided to cancel it and focus its efforts on the game’s pre-order campaign.
I bought the alpha version of NCG and it's a hell of a lot of fun. I also got the tech demo, which consumed a lot of time just tooling around in the car, wrecking stuff.

like the other FO games, it's 'world' is actually very small, only big enough to do a race track, so only a km or two square.
If I were doing a mad max game, i'd be doing something along the lines of Far Cry 2, which is a big open world with cars and guns. I think it's about 20 square kilometers. edit: supposedly 50 km²

well I have not read where a soft body physics game can't be open world. but yeah. as to far cry 2 I hear it has a deserty type area. people have said it would be perfect for mad max modding if only someone knew how. I'd be down if I could find a decent team. but I'd love a first person drive and shooter. but I'd also love a open world car cruncher for the ability to dish out authentic damage to the mad max cars.
