First look at Mad Max: Fury Road vehicles being built!
Re: First look at Mad Max: Fury Road vehicles being built!
I have a report that says they are being stored in shipping containers down at Canal Rd, Leichhardt.
Re: First look at Mad Max: Fury Road vehicles being built!
In my search to locate the name of the racetrack mentioned in my previous post, I found this tidbit from a September 2007 Popular Mechanics article.
Earlier in that piece, it is said that Alex Wheeler currently runs a South African special effects house called "Apocalypse". No doubt he was involved in some capacity with the 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Namibia shoot, though at the time the movie was gearing up, he was working for a company called "Bullseye Construction".
Perusing his "Apocalypse" website, I found this entry regarding his work on the earlier version of the movie.
So, ever more curious, I entered the 'Gallery' section of Wheeler's website, and lo and behold, what was I shocked to see? Yes, it's a photograph of the same Interceptor we see on display at Miller's October 24th press junket, except it had the familiar front bezel attached.
There are other pictures in Wheeler's gallery, but other than the Interceptor, I can't tell what else might have been part of the Fury Road production.

EDIT
If I'm not mistaken, I think I see fuel tanks sticking out the back of the Interceptor. They might be the reason for the canvas covering the back half of the vehicle at the press conference.
http://www.popularmechanics.co.za/conte ... 1056&pno=5It’s a good thing that Wheeler never did complete that B.Com. To his parents’ horror, the young student found the race track much more stimulating. So, with no formal engineering training, he went into building racing cars instead. “It was a lot more fun than counting money,” he says.
About four years ago, Wheeler was approached to make vehicles for the fourth Mad Max movie, Fury Road. Although the movie didn’t get off the ground, it provided him with a foot in the door, and he hasn’t looked back since.

Monstrous vehicles, eh? I remember coming across a supposed Fury Road storyboard panel someone posted on a Japanese board a few years ago. It was a drawing of a giant earth mover like vehicle, the type seen in quarries and such, outfitted with melee type defence weapons and whatnot. At the time, I questioned the authenticity of the drawing, but now I'm wondering if it in fact was an actual storyboard.Mad Max Fury Road
Designed and manufactured some monstrous desert jumping vehicles, capable of huge jumps and crazy stunts

Great find. I would agree with the tanks being in the boot.

The Bronze take our pride...
Re: First look at Mad Max: Fury Road vehicles being built!
I had been to Alex Wheelers site before in search of behind the scenes pics of the ''DOOMSDAY'' vehicles that they had built. And It said that it was the Interceptor for Max Max 4 but I shrugged it off believing it wasn't authentic at all. I thought about posting but figured it would have been a waste. But looks like someone did the research beet me to the post. Looks like it was the Interceptor for Mad Max 4.

"Between them and us, there's not enough runway!"

more differences
Even though this car has the basic look, it is far from the replicas we have come to know and love.
The zoomies are hard to see but don't look quite right, maybe they're all black. The blue steering wheel is of course incorrect. The nose is different. Not only are the lens covers different from the press release (as previously mentioned) but so is the lower chin spoiler. It's hard to tell but in the press release it appears that the headlights behind the honeycomb are round.
I think it's safe to assume that the average film goer would never notice these differences. We notice only because we are fanatical. I stand by my theory of a different face playing Max, and a different face playing the BoB.

At this point, just about anything is still possible. For all we know, the car might only be seen briefly in an opening montage similar to that in Mad Max 2.I stand by my theory of a different face playing Max, and a different face playing the BoB.

Very nice work Biolumen ... which branch of ASIO are you with?
I agree that it's all up for grabs and in many ways am looking forward to the reveal when it is released ... I'll be at the first available screening !
There's an old Japanese saying Sometimes it is better to travel in anticipation than it is to arrive.
