WEZ Vs. IRONBAR BASSEY

Post by Mitch »

Chirp. Chirp... chirrpp...

So anyway, whattaya think about the antihero theory for Max. Think Charles Bronson in Death Wish, Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry, etc. Fits for the second movie better. First movie is good guy driven to extreme actions by provocation. Fights fire with fire as it were.

The baddies in Mad Max were also more complex than simple obvious villains as found in Bond movies or GI Joe cartoons. I think back to 'A Clockwork Orange', where society has some responsibility for the creation of these gangs of lawless hooligans. Witness the whole lawyer/court interaction. Bleeding heart liberal sticks up for rapist killer psycho-sociopaths... If somebody would have put the fear of God into them much earlier, or if the society enforced the laws, then things wouldn't have gotten as far as they did.

Road Warrior villains seem to be motivated by basic human truths. Some people are just no damn good. No ideals, scruples or standards. Or full of hate and intolerance, with no sense of mercy. And there are others who ally themselves because they are too weak to follow what they know is right. They put their survival before doing the right thing. Think Hitler-era Germany.

Thunderdome was a muddied continuation of this theme. Too contrived for my taste, not enough real motivation or subtlety. More of a cartoon scenario. Sorry Uncle...

My turn for the crickets. Or cats yowling... Tomatos?

MM3 Villains ' style is "cartoonish"/comic book-ish in terms of action scenes, but it was done with a twisted, excellent dark humour touch in it, so it suddenly became plausible . Plus, there is a looooot of in-deep philosophy behind MM3 villains. Again, they're winners Image

In my humble opinion, FURY ROAD villains MUST be superior to any other MM villain seen before, in terms of originality.

Hey Uncle, bit of trivia for you, did you know that angry anderson originally applied for a part in RW. but the cast was complete at the time, apparently he was so impressed with the first film he asked his manager to get him a part in the sequel but was obviously too late. how things could have been so different. can't remember where i read it, but i read it, know what i mean.

Shooting a rabbit in mid sprint from a hand crossbow withou time to aim, is an incredible feat of reflexes. Along with these reflexes, Wez is also a merciless beserker. Iron Bar though seems physically strronger and more intellegent. In an unplanned road skirmish Wez may have the upper hand but in any planned altercation like a thunderdome match, Iron Bar could win.

It seems Trotsky really matched the point of the whole question. I agree, Wez gets enhanced reflexes just like Max - never thought about it! Image

usually i just sit here and read the discussion forum, i check it quite regularly to see what everyones opinions are on certain aspects of the greatest films ever made, i've come across alot of opinions that are exactly like my own, others are strange, and i sit there wondering, if the person who sent it really was a fan. but not until now, have i felt strongly enough, to voice my own. IRONBAR BASSEY, i don't have an opinion, like most fans THUNDERDOME wasn't up to scratch, very cool, but just lacking, i personally found IRONBAR meaner and way cooler in the novel. he attempts to burn max's eye out for god's sake, he was evil. in the movie he was comic relief, (well atleast at the end of the movie). Now WEZ. ,i saw MAD MAX 2 for the first time when i was 6 years old, and the one part that terrified my young mind was this menacing character, who enjoyed pain, and in my young mind, he wanted that little boy in the animal skins bad, now in my mind that meant he wanted all little boy's, like me, what was he gonna do to us? years later, i'm now 25 years old and that still sticks in my mind, i watch the damn movie once a fortnite, and wez still leaves an impression. But what is this sh*t everyones sprouting, (even those who prefer wez), about his lack of intelligence, firstly i don't think a man of extreme intelligence like HUMUNGUS, would appoint an idiot as his first lieutenant, i just think wez feed's off his emotions which makes him savage, doesn't make him un intelligent. But most importantly, and i'm surprised nobodys baught this up. Remember when max and gyro are up on the hill, watching everything down below, who do they see barking orders at the HUMUNGUS?... WEZ, now i don't know what the hell their arguing about, i mean humungus don't seem to be saying much, but it looks to me like Wez has spotted something over his shoulder, that he doesn't agree with, he's shouting and pointing at something, i think the humungus has made a tachtical mistake in the battle against the compound, like he's placed soldiers in a vulnerable spot or something, and their getting creamed, Wez has a better idea, probably a more INTELLIGENT one and humungus don't wanna hear that sh*t, he's trying to calm wez down with gestures and sh*t, but Wez not only has the intelligence but the balls to just say "f**k IT" and rides off, while if you listen closely humungus carries on with "the gate, the gate", "show them, show them the ways of the vermin", "I am the lord humungus whatever exists here is mine". He hasen't even listened to his first lieutenants advice...And the GAY issue, i'm no redneck or narrow minded idiot, but that just scares the sh*t out of me, it also tells us, that MILLER had balls, i mean when that movie was made every hero or badguy was as heterosexual as they come, but he said why? why can't an evil sadist be gay, that scares me way more than any heterosexual killer any day...
