They'd definitely added blood to the shots. Immortan Joe's demise was a damp fucking squib in the rough cut. Furiosa just pulls the mask off. This has real power now.Ol' Coyote wrote:blackmocco wrote:Oh by the way, this is something i wanna ask you. How different is the violence compared to the rought cut you thought was PG13 ?

Re: Fury Road Screening Discussion (WARNING! HEAVY SPOILERS!
I thought the baby scene was gruesome enough as it is; would have liked some harder violence than I saw in the action scenes. Most of the violence was to the vehicles. It wasn't an overly gory film but then again neither was MM2. I noticed there wasn't the sexual violence or threat of it as seen in MM1 & MM2. That rape scene in MM2 is still disturbing and I was surprised to see it uncut at the cinema last Saturday as the film has been downgraded from an 18 to a 15 cert. The violence in the first two movies feels very real and visceral. Although FR is way harder than MM3 the violence still doesn't seem anywhere near as real, think it gets lost in all the stunts and fx work.
Will there be a harder cut on DVD/Blu??

Wow!
I totally loved it. No apologies. Were there a few things that bothered me? Sure. But not enough to dislike it on any level. It was one of the more engaging movies I've seen in a long time. You could hear people gasp and move in their seats when certain people died.
I really like Hardy and have no issue with him at all. His new backstory was fine. In fact, at first I was put off that Max was doing the narration. That seemed out of place, but then I realized what they doing. He's mad. Crazy. Insane. He has in internal monologue that he runs in his head to keep him functioning. It also occurred to me that he still could have had a boy killed, and his PTSD is blocking him out and making it a young girl. But it doesn't matter. He lost people, he couldn't save them. That's all we have to know.
Loved Nux and his gang...very funny stuff there, but it felt natural, not like gags. "I've got his boot!"
I loved the action scenes on a level I haven't loved any genre filmmaking in years. The only action beat that seemed unclear to me was Joe's death...it was just too fast. But I loved him being kicked off the hood of his car.
Furiosa was great as well. I bought her 100%.
What I loved most about the whole thing was the detail, and unrelenting creativity. The bog walkers...the sled in the motorcycle gang...Joe's little deformed son...the bait on the electrical tower...the methods of attack from different gangs. It had more out there ideas than any genre films I've seen in ages.
Freaking loved the bog scene. "That's not his blood." The nighttime stuff was gorgeous.
And, it seems grim, but I loved the few deaths of the protagonists. I didn't see them coming at all, and once the first one happened, the whole film took on a meatier vibe.
And mostly, it felt, to me, like an ADULT film. Sure, it was a bit more fantastical than RW, but there was a level of jeopardy that I missed in sic-fi films over the years. I like taking my boys to see Marvel films and stuff, and they are fun, but I really prefer stuff like "There Will be Blood." While Fury Road was not on the level of that film, it was the smartest, most grown-up, idea-filled genre film I've seen since...I don't know.
I couldn't be happier with it.
Totally chrome!

Yeah, i didn't see Valkyrie's death coming at all. Man i thought she was gonna survive, and her death is more brutal than the warrior woman to me.

Was it just me or did Max drop a couple of F Bombs when he was strapped to the front of Nux's car.
I thought I heard him say it a couple of times.

According to subtitles, he says something like "fucalucuous" or something weird like that, which sounds like pockalypse slang for the f-word.P-Tron wrote:Was it just me or did Max drop a couple of F Bombs when he was strapped to the front of Nux's car.
