Today I got in my truck to go and pick up my friend's trailer, and from there to load up the Humungus Machine. Then tomorrow morning I would start on my journey to southern California for the Road Warrior Weekend Event. My friend lives about 45 minutes away. My truck is a 2003 Dodge Ram with the 5.7 Hemi engine. It has 65,000 miles on it. It has the towing package and the offroad package. I bought it from the factory for the purpose of towing something if I had to.

So I get close to my friend's house, and as I am turning off the highway, my truck starts sputtering and then stalls. What the hell?!? Nothing like this has ever happened before. I turn the key and it starts but won't idle. Only by constantly revving the gas can I keep it running. And... I'm smelling gasoline from somewhere. What the fuck.

I'm in shock. I limp to my friend's place; he knows a lot about cars and he takes a look. Can't figure it out, but he knows it's bad. I have to leave the trailer there and try to get my truck to a dealer.

I explain to them I need my truck, like, NOW. The guy tells me he'll do his best, but it takes time to diagnose and fix. I just heard from him. I had an exhaust valve spring break. He says it's from excessive revving of the engine. I never do that. Even if I did, the engine has a governor that only lets you rev it so much. Long story short, he might be able to have it fixed by Friday.

The Event starts Friday. The fastest I can get there would be Sunday.

It is still sinking in to me - I can't make it. Once in a lifetime event, and I can't get there.

My friends, I can't explain what I am feeling now. I just don't have the words.

No Way!!!! I really want to see that baby!!!!

I Know a rental would be expensive. If enough folks are willing to help would you do it? I will hand you 40 bucks cash on site if you roll up in a rental truck with the beast in tow. No BS. Anyone else in???
I really REALLY want to see it.

The rental idea sound pretty good if enough folks will pitch in to get ya there. I sure want to see your rig out one window of my XA BAT and an Interceptor (and even a buggy?) out the other window.
Let us know if anyhelp can be givin.

I'd be in for $50 just to get Humvee there and see the machine. But I doubt that's going to help enough. Shit, this sucks. Anyone else got any ideas? Or some more money to pitch in? There's not much time for us to circle the wagons on this.

Put me down for $75. There's no way you can't be there, Dave. You're my inspiration. :)

Okay, my girlfriend says she'll chip in another $50 if Dave let's me drive the thing for a minute for a photo op.
So that's $100 coming from us.
C'mon folks, spread the word! We've got less than 24 hours to try and save the Humongous Machine! What better charity is there?

(this is all assuming Dave would even be able to get a rental, but it's worth a try)

I'll put down some money, but it'll have to wait until next month. So, Dave, if you can front the cash, we're all willing to help you pay it off.
