Hardys accent is not aussie at all. If anything, his accent is old school english in places (think Lord of the Rings)..Ol' Coyote wrote:When Tom said "it was hard to know...." It sounds like a foreign accent or something. His raspy whispering sound make it hard to hear his accent.mahenoguy wrote:just listening to Tom hardy's voice over.....although not strictly Aussie sounding , does sound like Mels accent in Mad Max 1 .you can here undertones of Mels American heritage in his voice , especially in the "when do we go for a ride "line and also when he's questioning the mechanic after crushing him under a car . it sounds like a cross between Australian, American and English . By mad max 2 ,Mels accent had taken on a much more Aussie drawl (I.e..."Two days ago I saw a vehicle that would haul that tanker ...") but in the original it is quite ambiguous in some parts , although the "Crazy bout'ya " line is pretty aussie sounding .funny little spin off...I wonder if the fact that Jessie seemed to be learning sign language was implying sprog was deaf.......a stretch I know , but possible
His "accent" is very off putting sorry no idea what he was thinking or trying to achieve. Maybe so no one can place what country this is supposed to be?
We are 100% snafu....

That very much could be the case. Same goes for right & left hand drive cars, Charlize's American accent, and whatever version of Megatron Immortan Joe's doing, all very ambiguous in regards to where the movie takes place. At least I HOPE it's in Austalia.roadwarriormfp wrote:

The whole movie certainly seems to have bits of MM2 and 3 all thrown in and the last trailer is just stunning.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road MAIN TRAILER
I think your right about a deliberate blurring of Boarders in the Mad max universe .from the opening scenes of Mad Max Nightrider is putting on an American accent .."Mighty hand of vengeance...." Max has a strange accent ( no where near as Aussie as Steve Bisley anyway ) Toecutter even has a fairly british accent in parts . the whole Guzzoline bit , papagallo has british accent , Tina of course.......I can deal with tom's accent , it doesn't kill me that it's not really Australian , I ( Too ) just worry it may throw off his delivery a bit , but from all accounts there's not enough of it to really effect the film anyway , shit I cant wait .

I don't mind Immortan's voice at all either, in fact it sounds very imposing. What I noticed though is that Immortan's speech sounded like some Hitler's speech with that tone, lo-fi speakers and echo. Not sure if that was intentional or not.

When I first heard Immortan Joe's voice in the trailer I thought it sounded silly, especially given the whole Batman Bane thing. However, it didn't take long for it to sound normal.
He's clearly a dictator and I see some semblance to Hitler too, particularly with his living area. Books, music, and military strategy with architectural flare. Perched on a mountain peak with military industrialisation within caves. Using religion for his own gain. It will be interesting to see what his performance is like to his subjects. Hitler himself based his on Wagner's operas. There's also what looks like the early Indoctrination of children into soldiers.
Of course this is pretty much normal behaviour for dictators in general, but Miller did get the Nazi reference into RoadWarrior.
But this may also be more so a commentary on our current cultural state becoming led by a war mongering plutocracy while vital resources, particularly fresh water, run dry.
