what i am having trouble with understanding is the script. if fury road was to go ahead back in 2003 with mel and now (POSSIBLY) without, what the foong has happened to the script? if mel agreed to do it back in 2003 why hasnt he agreed now?

Mel could still be in it or another actor could replace him. If the rumor that Max had a smaller part in the script is true, maybe he was written out completely. Lord knows enough time has past for many rewrites to have been done. Anything is possible at this point, and that's probably just the way Kennedy Miller wants you to think.

I suspect the script will be kept under a very tight lid. Miller once lamented that George Lucas' Star Wars prequels were anti-climactic (to him, anyway) because there was so much talk about the stories and too many plot details revealed before the movies were even released. Just hearing him talk about it like that leads me to believe that he won't be making the same 'mistake' with his movie. A shroud of secrecy will remain for some time, I would think.

The Star Wars prequels were anti-climatic with or without the plots being revealed prior to release!.... :D
Truely so badly made, too much cgi, poor script, poor dialogue, too much jaa jaa binx!!!

-A Gone in 60 seconds movie without a 40 minute car chase, like, is 40 minutes necessary? how about a decent story?
-A Smokey and the bandit movie without Burt Reynolds, well, been there done that haven't we :?
-A Superman movie without Cristopher Reeves, thankfully that wasn't so bad, eh?

I did mean it as a joke as all those movies has been successfull ;) (apart from that really shitty Smokey sequel) terminator salvation almost made me forget how bad number 3 was, and i love transformers ;) but I honestly can't see ho the new gone in 60 seconds has a decent story;) (not as bad as the original maybe :P)

Sam Worthington says that like Bana, he's never been approached for the role of Max. So Miller cast Hardy as Max without even giving giving these two Aussies a shot? The only reasonable explanation I can think of is that Max isn't being recast.
Sam Worthington will not be Mad Max

By Vicky Roach From: The Daily Telegraph November 18, 2009 12:23AM

SAM Worthington has poured cold water over persistent rumours that he is to play Mad Max in Fury Road, the fourth film in the hugely successful franchise which is due to start filming in Sydney and Outback NSW in August.

"Like Eric (Bana), I've never been approached," he revealed yesterday.

The former bricklayer was back home to promote James Cameron's hotly-anticipated 3D action adventure Avatar, in which he plays a crippled marine who travels to an alien world in a genetically-engineered body which he operates by remote control.

Worthington, who was an unknown Aussie actor when Cameron took a punt by casting him in the lead role of his $US230,000 blockbuster, said he would have jumped at the chance to play the character that launched Mel Gibson's US career.

"What are you talking about? I would have loved it. From what I've heard, it's going to be amazing."

But the man who stole Terminator: Salvation from under the nose of Christian Bale, and who lost the James Bond franchise to Daniel Craig by a whisker, is now well acquainted with the vagaries of the casting processs.

"I'm sure (director) George (Miller) has his reasons. He's obviously got his own ideas about the type of guy he wants."
