My biggest problem with the movie
Re: My biggest problem with the movie
Colors are all wrong. FYI the original colors are just like Fury Road.
Re: My biggest problem with the movie
-I don't understand, the Bluray of MM2 is not correct ? how you know that it does not look like the original film at all ? (because I saw a BR version and just after a 35mm screening, and what I saw was pretty obvious : it was exactly, but EXACTLY the same colors !)Stamper wrote:Well he did release a Blu-ray version of MM2 which does not look like the original film at all -- Hopefully this will be fixed with a future reissue.
But you think the DVD version look like the original film ? And when you say "it will be fixed with a future reissue", what are you talking about ?
I don't want to look suspicious about what you said, but I have issues to trust a guy who thought that in The Road Warrior, Max is driving a tanker full of Seven Up !

Different yes. The progression from MM1, MM2, and MM3 felt natural and not "forced." They were uniquely different but clearly fit together. Sorry, but from what I've seen in the trailers of MM4, it seems VERY forced to be radically different, and not in any or many good ways. Mutants?? Come-on... that feels VERY 1950s with the unknown effects of radiation and 2-headed lizards. Trapeze artists on moving vehicles??? Really?? People, who in their daily struggle for survival, think that worshiping and painting themselves chrome is the thing... oookkkaayyy... I've studied some Anthropology and do know there are primitive historical and modern tribes that do self-mutilation, painting, odd worshiping, etc... But how many generations is this afterall??? Is there lots of cans of chrome paint just laying about.P-Tron wrote:Which world do you prefer? I don't think its reasonable to expect George Miller to do the exact same thing each time. As a film maker he wants to do new things and its not like the Road Warrior is going away, you can always watch it any time you like.
The villians in the first three each seemed real, different, and believable. And scary or dangerous in their own right. Toecutter and Night Rider, Wez and Humungous, and their gangs were dangerous people that are in society today, and would thrive in a societal breakdown. Auntie is a pure politician who is dangerous in her own way, with dangerous henchmen to do her dirty work. All quite believable.
Not sure about the villians in MM4. Too cartoonish to be real or scary. Driving around with a guitar player and huge PA system, dangling acrobats, chrome painted weirdos... I just don't know. I REALLY hope there is a standout bad guy on par with Wez... we'll know in a couple months.
Re: My biggest problem with the movie
You saw a DCP. I have seen MM2 over 15 times in theaters, from the original release on, for over 10 years. I have seen it over 100 times on VHS and LD, and back to theaters. I know exactly how it should look.
The actual look is the DVD look. The Blu-ray is crap, you can listen to the commentary, where the DP talks about colors you don't see on screen (because he made the commentary to the old DVD version).

. . .but, weird and rapid mutations do occur in animals when radiation is present. Have you seen some of the things that are living in Chernobyl right now?leadcounsel wrote:Different yes. Also, there's numerous references made to radiation throughout both Mad Max 2 and Beyond Thunderdome - or, are we forgetting The Humonguous' prominently displayed, throbbing head?
Re: My biggest problem with the movie
To be fair, there weren't any references to anything 'nuclear' prior to MMBT. It was only in MMBT where fallout, nuclear holocaust, etc were mentioned.
At last the Vermin had inherited the Earth
Re: My biggest problem with the movie
I thought the throbbing head was just due to the over exertion of restraining Wez?? Nothing about it suggested radiation effects??
Re: My biggest problem with the movie
Yeah but the way it throbs along with the discoloration, veins and thinned hair makes it looks like radiation effects. Honestly like others I assumed the bomb had dropped prior to MM2 which resulted in everything being more of a wasteland and whatnot. It wasn't till Taipan posted official material that detailed how the world collapsed that I knew and realized when the bombs dropped AFTER MM2.
Re: My biggest problem with the movie
Actually, mutations in animals happen all the time even in radiation free environments.Mutants?? Come-on... that feels VERY 1950s with the unknown effects of radiation and 2-headed lizards.
Here was one found in Australia back in 2010.
Re: My biggest problem with the movie
Something worth considering here is how, as a storyteller, you show elements such as nuclear fallout and mutations. The two headed lizard has always struck me as a very quick way to suggest a whole new world of genetics within the opening of a teaser trailer. Plus, in the Comic Con version, it also helped show how hungry and ruthless Max is. That's a LOT of potential story in mere moments of runtime.
Fury Road is very comic book, it has been developed by a comic book artistic, it's been pitched in a comic book format, it's being sold to an audience of comic book movie lovers. Resenting that fact isn't going to prove or change anything. Optimus Prime went from a Kenworth COE to a long-nose Pete, the new Transformer's franchise made over a billion to a new audience. Time to get over it.
