Some interesting news for those of us who are either building, or intend to build , a Goose replica.
Apparently you can get a MadMax Replica fairing, based on the La Parisienne fairing used in MM1. They are available from this link http://www.showandgo.com.au just scroll through the Fairing page. No photo on site, but this fairing is referred to as the 'Mad Max' fairing, Will organise for a photo from the manufacturer. I have no idea of cost either, if there are any Maxians living in South Australia maybe they could go past the shop and get a birds-eye view of this fairing.

well I have finally pulled the finger out, and got stuck into the Gosling on the weekend. It has now received some new top-end gaskets, an electronic ignition conversion (standard kawa parts), the forks which I had not previously used were dismantled, cleaned and treated to some fresh fork oil (first time in nearly 30 years I reckon !!). Have also replaced handlebars, fitted braided s/steel brake lines to the front, and tidied up some ugly frame welds, scratched frame paint etc. This bike is a GO bike, not a SHOW bike, so don't expect the photo's to look particularly good ( when I finally work out how to post the bastards....)
My other Z is out of rego shortly, so the gosling needs to be back on the road before end of June. I have also located someone who is happy to build me some 4-2 crossover exhausts, just like the original Goose exhausts. There are none commercially available that I know of, once these pipes are done I could possibly help out others in Oz who are also planning to build a gosling replica - only if you use the right base model (ie 1977 z1000A1 or A2)

this 'replica' will differ in a couple of small areas: I will use DFI instead of carbies (easy conversion with stock kawa parts), will be using mags not spokes initially, until the spoke wheels get rebuilt (at the cost of a small African nation's defence budget ...), and a dual seat arrangement. Once it is up, running and reliable, the single-seat can then be fitted.
so stay tuned, within a month or so I will get some photos organised, more time in the shed = less time thinking about it......

Goose continues to improve. Started it today for the first time since March last year, when it was the victim of a driver reversing out of a driveway. Scored a broken arm for that little mess, but the good news is the crank was not damaged because of the prang - all electronic ignition etc was a write-off ( went down on RH side.)
So it is now up and running. And even sounded OK, with a stock 4-2 exhaust. Have done some additional wiring within the stock harness for the additional lights, sirens etc, these won't be fitted for some time (its freezing cold here at the moment, the shed is not a good place to be when its -2deg outside

WOOHOO - went for a ride today on Gosling 1. Not that it looks too much like it at the moment, no fairing, using black bodywork off another Z while the original stuff is prepared for final painting. At least it is up and mobile. Using 28mm carbs off a '74. Will keep updates coming as it progresses.

good stuff Moko - you should be able to pick up a '77 without too much trouble in the States. E-bay is one possiblity (bit expensive), there are heaps of good Z sites in the US.
will sure keep updates coming. Pictures, well, see what I can do (no scanner yet).
Bubba F / Dave H - will send you some pictures as soon as possible. Have made contact with a guy in SoCal, he is getting me the Don Vesco seat, with a bit of luck it should be here before end of the month, maybe mid-August. This is the last piece I need for a proper replica.

I have a question about Goose's KZ1000. In the movie: the scene where Goose wakes up in a girl's (lounge singer) apartment, throws on his riding gear and walks out into the parking lot (flicks the blue cars radio antenna) and gets on his bike. In that scene the camera pans down to his left foot where he "dry" shifts (this is a guess) from 1st, neutral, and then 2nd. He then presses down (with his foot) on the shift lever and small "pin" of some type in between the shift lever and the foot peg. The bike fires right up. He pulls out into the street and lays rubber.
My question is, did he start the bike with his foot (racing starter)? If so what is this starter called? How can I get one?
Thanks, Mitch

Check out the commentary on the REGION 1 MAD MAX , on it they laugh at the scene, cause like the Blower on the INTERCEPTOR, it was ridiculous, they said you cannot start a bike like that, but it was meant to be the Future, and they were making a point, that in the future, you can start bikes like this.
