Miller is planning to use as little CGI possible, all stunts both vehicular and person based are planned to be done for real and at actual speed where possible.

As a few people have already mentioned there is approx 130 vehicles and so far there are only images circulating of I think 3 vehicles in their actual on screen condition. Just because you've seen pics of a car in the press or elsewhere doesn't mean it stayed in that condition or configuration before it goes in front of the cameras. i.e NONE of the vehicles purchased for Fury Road were left unmodified from how they arrived. That leaves a whole heap of vehicles to please or displease a whole range of people. I can't comment in more detail, but will say that all the vehicles were built at full scale and are all driveable under their own power at realistic speeds, no CGI cars and nothing that is so unrealistic that it's not driveable. Plenty of cars that can be reproduced by fans at home and possibly street driven depending on your local laws and personal levels of insanity, lol.

Alex Wheeler was tasked with helping build the vehicles for the earlier version of this movie (as well as for those in Doomsday), but this post of his indicates he's no longer involved.
Won't be going up for Max sadly, I have too much on the go here.

Would have been fun. hopefully I'll get up there to visit during the year though!!!

Although I know of Alex Wheeler from previous posts, I don't think he's had any connection with Fury Road since the first attempt back in Namibia the first time. Infact there is only 1 person on the vehicle team who was involved the first time.

On a side note from speaking to the guys over there, everything is progressing well and all moving forward.

Part of me is really worried that the vehicles in the reboot may end up feeling more like Wacky Races than the aesthetic of post-apocaliptic vision achieved in The Road Warrior.

I know it's really to early to tell...

Most of the vehicles in The Road Warrior were not really really outlandish, they were functional and modifications were not too over the top as to feel contrived. They were exactly what they needed to be, and I think the budget constraints of the movie also aided to constrain the design of the vehicles to a feasible level.

I know a lot of you fine people share my sentiments about this.

By the same standards I'm concerned that there will be very liberal use of ammunition in gun fights, machine guns and all that nonsense. Do my eyes decieve me or does that appear to be a pair of machine guns mounted on the top of the tanker? I fear that is what they are. One does not easily happen on belts of ammunition in a wasteland, also one does not use a weapon that eats through precious amunition. That's why crossbows are badass.

Er... i dunno where you see "machine guns"? mounted on the tanker.
What you see are weapons of some kind and each one is different.
Air driven, flame thrower, mechanical, plenty of different ways to shoot something.

If they were machine guns each one would "look" like a machine gun and they would look the same way.
We are 100% snafu....

I'm not asserting that they are definitely machine guns, I don't know what they are, but the shape of one of them in particular (on the right side of the main tanker trailer) I find characteristic of the silhouette that machineguns like the M60 tend to adhere to. Granted, it appears to be wrapped in protective plastic and may even just simply be a temporary placeholder/stand-in until filming.

That's all.
