My interest fades... with every leak.
This is the worst Brendan Mcarthy vision I have always feared.
Its rapidly becoming like a vaudevillian interpretation of the Mad Max mythos.
A hyped up surreal Twisted Metal computer game...
Rather than the gritty high speed metal on metal thrill fest of the first two.
How can these vehicles ever do remotely thrilling / exciting?
The chases will look like a Christmas Pageant on crack.
I miss Byron Kennedy.
I just have to accept that this is for the "new generation" - the 14-24 year olds that don't know / care what we grew up with.

Re: Possible pictures of actual Fury Road vehicles
I'm now reminded of how George Lucas had so much more money and technology to make his awful Star Wars prequels than he did for the original trilogy. Who knows, maybe these are the vehicles that would have been in The Road Warrior if they'd been able to afford to build them back then?
Let's just hope Miller doesn't ruin things like Lucas did. The screenplay and direction will still count for a lot.

Seeing that pic of the Gigahorse was the final nail in the coffin for me. The concept art for it was a shocker, Doug Chiang sure as hell aint gonna be losing any sleep...far too much kitbashing on display. Its a sthough these guys have not seen the original series, they've got everything wrong. Cannot believe Miller has ok'd this. Ive been a believer up until now but Man im starting to worry now.

I don't disagree. Although it may still be a little too early to tell.Fresno Bob wrote:Seeing that pic of the Gigahorse was the final nail in the coffin for me. I was stoked back when they had the original press event. Not just for the Interceptor on display, but also with the ratrod there - it looked exactly like the type of vehicle everyone loved from the first two films. The promise looked like a bunch of very cool cars, and action most like the Road Warrior.
What we're seeing pics of now is making the whole thing look more like a monster truck rally. To me, this stuff looks overblown, and just does not look as cool as more standard custom rides. The only point I would make at the moment though is that there have been stories of over 100 vehicles, and the pics we're seeing are clearly only a handful of the same ones. And possibly we're just seeing these same ones exactly because of their size, and because they're too difficult to hide. So it's still difficult to say what else will be involved, or which vehicles will feature to what extent. Lets just hope our worst fears aren't realised!

The sad thing about that rat rod is that the MM team neither designed it or built it. It was literally bought from an individual builder. It may have been bought simply to display at the press release.Peter Barton wrote: I was stoked back when they had the original press event. The FJ bodyshell in the latest photos looks suspiciously like an old FJ that was sitting around the corner from where I live, in someone's front yard. It disappeared a couple years ago. Maybe coincidence. Too bad I don't have a photo to check.

Dont like knocking someones work but the concept for that Gigahorse (is it Brendan McCarthy?) was very poor. In my job i see a lot of artist CVs, whoever did this wouldn't of got through the door here.

Oh... wow... just.... wow....
They've turned Mad Max into a cartoon.
I am very VERY dissapointed. It seems like a 5 year old was given crayons and told to draw 'angry cars'.

I think Brendan McCarthy's concept work on the Gigahorse is great, yeah his artistic skills might not be right up there with the best but he's a concept artist and the viability of creating what he comes up with is far more critical. There's detail and consideration in that Gigahorse concept that really should be admired, notably in the engine and drive train setup that appears to have been replicated almost ad verbatim. So I respect that a lot.
It is very comic book, and it certainly doesn't seem to fit most people's -imagined- MadMad universe, but he would have been working to a brief and shouldn't be getting shot down like this.
I also think Peter makes a really good point by reminding us we may be only seeing a few of the most freakish cars.
And I'd like to add a further point, this is not a cult film made to appeal to us, there's nearly 3000 registered here, representing the most die hard MadMax fans in the world. If if we represent just 1% of the hardcore Mad Max fans who'd pay for a ticket to see this movie that would still result in a relatively tiny return on investment for the production company.

Yes it's not made for us hardcore fans.
It's made for someone else. I'll leave it at that.
