News on the Fury Road : "The Wasteland" & "Furiosa"

While MAD MAX: FURIOSA will not include Mad Max Rockatansky, it appears it may be pairing Furiosa with a different male hero, a "breathtakingly handsome" dude with "an angel's face, scarred by a deep forehead wound stitched together with shiny chrome staples". That guy's name? Dementus. If they hire who I've heard they're interested in for that role, y'all will be most excited.

Maybe he has changed his mind about the sequel part and the film will just be a prequel now.

Both Furiosa and The Wasteland are prequels. Furiosa takes place over at least a decade before the events of Fury Road, The Wasteland takes place about a year before the events of Fury Road. There's no 'sequel' to Fury Road per se as far as I know.

Hello! I'm brand new to the forum, but a huge fan of the Mad Max films. Just joining up because I was super excited to see George Miller start to finally openly talk about the Furiosa film in that New York Times article a few days ago, and I am so incredibly excited by all of the things he's said about it. Gave the last few pages of this thread a read now too, and I see some interesting discussion going on about early treatments.

Can't wait to ride eternal in this wasteland again in a few years!

I'll really need to dig but I distinctly remember George saying there was a sequel part of Furiosa's story. I'm 100% sure he said there was an interaction with Furiosa and Max in one of the two films.

So many old interviews were lost. I used to have them bookmarked but most won't load anymore. There was some really cool stuff about the Imperator's in Gastown and how the chain of command worked. I really should have wrote it down.

Unless there are more stories that I don't know of, both Furiosa and The Wasteland are prequels.

I also remember Miller saying that Max could make a passing appearance in Furiosa. BTW, I think you already know this but Furiosa is essentially an adaptation of the CGI Anime that Miller wanted to do with Maedo Mahira back in 2010'ish.
One thing that I'm a little bit concerned about is if The Wasteland is a re-telling of Mad Max#1 and Mad Max#2 comic books by Vertigo. Both The Wasteland and the stories in those comic books take place about a couple of years before the events of Fury Road and they're both bleak. But I have faith that Miller doesn't want to re-tell that stuff since the cat's been out of the bag for the last 5 years regarding Max's and Glory's story.

Regarding disappearing interviews - Yeah a lot of those are gone now, particularly the ones where the actors said a little bit too much about their characters.

I found an old interview where Miller says " Furiosa isn't in the Max film but Max and Furiosa will have an interaction in the other film". Maybe that was where I got the sequel part. It will be interesting to see how Max could meet Furiosa before the events of Fury Road. Unless its turned into a campfire story where Max and Furiosa meet in the future and fill in their backstory with the two films.

The game has also had a take on the Hope & Glory story. I don't think people would be overly thrilled for a third telling of the story even if it is a more fleshed out version. Personally I'd absolutely love to see it on the big screen.

Yeah I recall Charlize Theron saying a little too much about how she lost her arm.
