A while ago there were already photo's on the forum where you could see that they build fake rocks to cover up trees and plants that would disturb the image of a wasteland.
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

The difference is that the three cars in the prior MM movies were destroyed from those collisions/jumps. I believe this MM4 vehicle survives, at least from the trailer. A "real" stunt?

Yes it was because monster trucks do jumps like that all the freaking time. They're built to do that and drive away unscathed.leadcounsel wrote:The difference is that the three cars in the prior MM movies were destroyed from those collisions/jumps. I wouldnt bother because this guy is an expert.... clearly CGI was used despite the fact its been said no stunts were CGI and in fact real.Bomber wrote:Yes it was because monster trucks do jumps like that all the freaking time. Must be hard to grasp facts. Like the fact its got balloon tyres and set up to absorb massive jumps like all monster trucks do.
Only the site owner Peter is the only active admin...themanw/oaname wrote:i dont think we have any that are active. a thread was created where i was falsely accused of being a troll and no one intervened.Stamper wrote:Excellent post. Can a mod put leadcounsel in check? This is just not constructive to the board. Thank you.
We are 100% snafu....

Fair, but naive, point. The world record for a monster truck jump is 202 feet going 90 mph. We're talking about a perfectly planned, orchestrated jump under absolute perfect conditions. Ramps on each end: One perfectly angled and measured ramp, with a flat lead-up, for take-off and one ramp for landing, on another perfectly angled ramp and soft landing. A vehicle with an expert crew, unlimited new parts and budget, with crash helmets and harnesses and emergency medical vehicles on scene.... And consider that many vehicles fail these "stunts," and other monster truck events (engines blow, suspensions break, they roll over or tumble, etc.) because they are so un-naturally designed, even under absolute perfect conditions with new and correct parts and excellent mechanics. Under perfect conditions, these engines and suspensions are pushed to the maximums. They blow up, catch on fire, don't work, break, collapse under the weight and stunts, etc.Bomber wrote:Yes it was because monster trucks do jumps like that all the freaking time. This cobbled together vehicle hits some rock formation at around 50mph, and jumps 30' or so in the air and appears to clear about 50-100 feet and lands on a hard/flat surface (not a ramp landing)... If the vehicle fails after the jump it's believable. If it lands and continues, it's totally implausible.
The reason this MM4 detracts from authenticity is that this vehicle is presumably cobbled together from aged spare parts. The metal is presumably decades old, since new steel is not smelted. That means it's aged, stressed, the springs have lost tension, parts may be mismatched, etc. Could be the best mechanics in the world, but when you're using stressed and aged parts, you're not going to be able do make these jumps with any confidence or reliability in the landing. Frankly, it's just asinine and offensive to an intelligent or thoughtful viewer.

It's a fucking movie. If you want perfect realism watch a documentary. You're here to bitch and be difficult and I'm done feeding into it. Good day sir.

Indeed.Taipan wrote:We really need active mods in here now.
Since the forum has changed to the new platform, we don't have moderators any more. (We had on the old forum platform)
That's why we have this kind of uncontrolled situations with new members that act like rebellion high school kids (to putt it mildly) on several occasions. (The long time members know about whom I'm talking about from the past)
That is the reason why several well respected old time forum members have left this community.
But I have never seen so much new members in such short time, now MM4 is almost finished. The filming began some time ago, and we where covering it here with great interest. But that was only with the same old members. Maybe one or two new members who noticed it. But now, since Comic Con, there are a lot of new members.
I've been around this forum for quite some time now. But I've never seen so much new members in such a short time.
That's a lot of new members that have to adjust to the mentality of this forum, instead of losing the grip of them selves.

Something has to be done about this because the closer Fury Road is to its release date the more trolls and idiots will be crawling out of the woodwork, bringing absolutely nothing to the table except stirring shit up for the sake of it.
