Y'know OverheadCam you have got to be a pretty sick kinda person to even hint that Santa Clause is a fictional character.


Yeah, death heads were used by all and sundry in the military at one time or another since it brought fear and trembling to the knees of the enemy. You'll notice the regiments that had teddy bears or cuddly puppies as thier intimdating insignia sorta got creamed out on the battlefields.

Well if you need a visual endorsement that Humungous is a bad guy I think having a "Nazi" guncase with hand cannon etc would sorta do that dontchafink?


If I were George Miller I'd be including loads of little references that I could to make the character appear even more sinister. Mohawks suggest punks, which we all know is someone we wouldn't want our daughters to associate with let alone date. Leathers... well I think that speaks for itself.... (which sorta explains why I only got nasty girls to go out with me) chains, studs, meat cleavers etc etc they all go in the obvious and subliminal advertising of that characters true psyche as perceived and reinforced by current stereotypes.


On the other hand the "good guys" in the compound wore mostly white clothes, suggesting angelic associations, seemed to favour bows and arrows, not nasty bang bangs that don't take great skill to use, whereas a bow does. Yeah, I know, handguns DO require a skill but any fool can pull a trigger, try pulling a bow one day AND hit the target with the arrow. Crossbows don't count, they're the preferred weapon of a bad guy, See Wez. They also spouted new world thoughts and tree hugging tendancies, making them peace loving and sorta hippy like.


I know I've gone off the deep end a little but I thought I'd chip in my particular thoughts on the deaths head thingumybob

"Fury", by a creator of a skinhead comic, had Max transporting people of "pure bloodlines", so I guess he switched sides. The guy never knew how to drive very well anyway. In case anyone forgot, he flinched at a broken windshield, and drove the V8 off a straight stretch of road. Straight as the road he "drove" the rig on (a rock on the pedal would have had a very similar effect), before crashing that as well. Good thing it was a decoy. I guess they knew what a bad driver he was, and, he would blow their last hope for humanity to high Heaven.

The 44 Magnum has quite a kick if you ain't prepared for it, just like "in laws".. But, like my mother in law, you get used to it. A desert eagle 44 Magnum and 50 cal. pack quite a punch to the palms. But, again, like my mother in law, you get used to it.RW

I have a high level of knowledge and experience with real world guns. Humungus' revolver is a .44 magnum, probably a Smith and Wesson Model 29 or 629. Similar to Dirty Harry. The scope is/was a commonly mounted hunting scope, often used in deer hunting.

I admit I don't know much about the steel used in cow catchers. But with the right hardball ammo, it's totally feasible that the .44 magnum could punch through non-armor plate or otherwise softer steel. Certainly an M16 bullet, which is a .223 caliber, would. But the mechanics were repairing a bullet damaged engine, so they knew enough to put thick armor plate on the engine/cow catcher to protect this. Armor plate will stop the .223 and also the .44. I found all of that gun play all quite realistic (and I'm always hyper critical of gunplay in movies).
For comparison:
.44 mag - muzzle energy of 240grain bullet = 1650ft/lbs, 100 yards = 1015ft/lbs
.223 caliber - muzzle energy 55grain bullet = 1282, 100 yards = 929 ft/lbs

The .44 magnum has stout recoil, but easily manageable with no ill effects for an adult man with average strength. Your hands may take a beating if you fire hundreds of rounds in a session, but shooting a few rounds would have no ill effect. Not an issue for Humungus.

The .44 magnum is definitely widely available and popular for hunting and home/self defense because it is a good balance between power and ease of use. Probably not the top choice for most people, but definitely available and effective.
