The hype has died already.

I see it a little differently: many who were disappointed at first due to the simple fact that FR is not a clone of Road Warrior
will discover its quality regarding its conception and execution of the film.

But this process will take a while for some . . .

People get fixated on an idea in their mind about what a movie should be vs what it is. It's part of the human psyche to look for familiarity to things we know, and the brain is most happy when something seems familiar. It's a fine line though...if Fury Road was too much like Road Warrior then people would be whining that it was a rehash and was not original. I was completely relieved that it was not the same rehash or stereotypical cookie cutter Hollywood popcorn crapfest that we've been given in recent years.

Most likely Oscar nominations: Director, Cinematography, Art Direction, Costume Design, Original Soundtrack and I'd bet Theron has a fair to good chance for a Best Actress nom. Then you can come on here and sulk some more that people liked the movie more than you.

In the past few weeks I have read a lot of comments about FR on the Internet.

It's funny, but the only repetitive argument haters (and maybe some trolls) can bring on the table is that Fury Road has no plot (...)
Another classic is: No Mel - no Max !

BTW I was surprised that nobody bashed Rosie Huntington-Whiteley AFTER the release of the film

Understood. Personally I didn't want it to be more like RoadWarrior.

I'm really not sure where all your aggression is coming from.

But yes, I agree Oscar noms are -very- likely with a call that the stunt teams get more recognition.

I can only speak for my own feelings about the movie. As I've stated, it's pretty much perfect for it's time. But times have changed a lot since RoadWarrior.

I completely agree with that also. I think Fury Road parallels Road Warrior in a lot of ways but does not directly copy it. FR is a very fast, very hard-hitting movie. Road Warrior was considered extremely fast-paced and violent for it's time, but now it would probably be considered average, especially if the rape scene was not included (or at least trimmed down more like in the TV edit from years ago) and could probably pass for PG13 in the USA. Fury Road is almost forced to be extremely more violent by default because of our times, yet oddly enough (and thankfully) no one complained about it...or else it just doesn't seem any more violent than anything else out there because we are all immune to it.

It was rated R (or 18 here in the UK) so such complaints would have been misplaced, and yet some people complained that it should have had more gore in it ... probably a sign of those who like Saw or Human Centipede.

I thought the violence and gore was appropriate to the story, and it actually made a pleasant change to not have bloody body parts flying around all the time.

Miller has managed to ruin every single movie I've seen after Fury Road.

I've tried to enjoy films like Ant Man or MI5
but in comparison to Fury Road - well, they are all mediocre at best...

At this point I can stop watching other films because everything from now on is downhill
