For the people Mad Max is a guy in leather in the desert with a black car against punx driving huge and strange cars... So the movie is about this. Why is the Black on Black in the movie ? Because people (I mean people, not fans and definitely the 3 in the back of the classroom who try to figure out what's the timeline is since 30 years) expect the Interceptor. That's it.
It's not a Mad Max 4, it's a new movie, in a new universe. It's a 2015 S.F. movie, it's not an "ultraviolent bikie movie from the seventies".
We could see Fury Road like a 007 movie, like this idea of legendary stories told by many, but the universe and the character seems to be really far and totally deconnected from the early movies.
Maybe i worded it the wrong way. When i said a slight continuation, i meant the character is being rebooted but the previous legends just exists. So i kinda look at the movie as both a reboot and a bit of continuation (but i'm leaning on more on the reboot part) a little weird i know.

The characters is not from previous movies of course but the bits of history is, i just look at it that way for now. If it turns out to be different then that's okay with me :)

People would have been more confused if the 2002 version was on the go back then. Same character same actor but the movie is rebooted hahaha

How about a fun "What if Question"

What if, lets say, Furiosa asks Max, "how did you get those scratch marks on your jacket?"
what would his answer be?

One thing folks might be unaware of is that George's concept of the chronology of the interceptor was rather fluid. Can't say how I know but I know .
For Fury road he had only vague ideas of whether or not it was meant to be the same interceptor he crashes in MM2 RW. Basically he just wanted an iconic black interceptor as it's mythologically Max's car and serves the mythic role of the batmobile or the hero's mighty sword of Joseph's Campbell's "hero of a thousand faces". He doesn't really beat himself up how it fits anal retentive fashion into a neat sequential narrative. How it fits into the rythmns of a films action was important. It's not important in the way some people obsessed about exactly how many Delorians were in Hill Valley at any particular time in "Back to the future". Max is literally a fireside telling Myth we hear about in a dark modern communal bedtime campfire setting but under flickering projector light rather than firelight... "let me tell you about the man with the black car ".... In some people's telling of his story he loses the black car, in others he still has it... it's Mythology and really only a movie.. Think about how many huge continuity contradictions there are in religious scripture and people actually take that stuff literally . We're worrying about a definitely fictional mythical car crash..
Think about how people will sit down and watch Ben Affleck's batmobile... hey didn't Christian Bale lose his?... How can Ben Affleck have a black car again? That's the way to just relax and not worry about it, it's just the mythic weapon of a mythic dude but the falcon XB with distinctive air intake is part of the legend we love so that's harder to fuck with and stayed with the film. George just wanted the black car and whatever leap of faith required about the interceptor is less of a concern than just trying to make the movie after 10 years and make it awesome.

Just so everyone's aware, there are dramatically altered versions of the 30 second spots that were released a couple of weeks ago on the Village Roadshow Youtube page, with a lot of new footage in each. The most revealing being the "Retaliate" trailer. There are also more international spots that no one seems to have mentioned here yet, but that have been playing on TV all week.

Yes, apparently, Miller doesn't give a shit about continuity questions. But maybe, I just said maybe, a continuity is possible between the four films. I just want to say that without ignite a pointless debate (don't get me wrong: pointless until the movie's released) between the pro and anti reboot thing. I just say there is a possibility that is the case. We have to actually see the movie. Maybe the reboot camp is right. Maybe not. Dunno. Right now, I think Fury Road can be seen as a reboot (I'm very open minded on this) by certain people, and also as a true sequel by others. Again we have to wait and see ;)

I caught one of the Taiwan spots last night but missed another. They seem to advertising tickets going on sale Friday too.

Haven't any other spots and it sucks because nobody is uploading them either.
