Daily driver is a '99 Jeep Cherokee sport 4X4.
Got to thinking a while back that the times when I actually NEED a 4X4 are pretty limited..
And I very much miss being able to hit highway on/offramps at any kind of speed and I HATE having to slow down for corners. :p

In the midst of patching a new car together for Mrs. X-Ray ('04 Subaru Legacy Outback).
After I get that paid off and on the road, I'll be starting to keep a serious eye towards putting myself into a different vehicle.

I've got a couple of ideas of what I may be after... All of which will be a compromise of budget, needs and wants.

Gotta be an improvement to the fuel economy I get now.
Gotta have a back seat large enough for my kid for the next few years. (I suspect he'll be bigger than Blaster by the time he's done growing.)
Gotta be reliable
Gotta be cheap enough
Gotta be something I'll LIKE. :p
Gotta be two-door hatch, Coupe or sedan.

If budget allowed, I'd be after an '05-'09 Mustang GT with some BoB references to it's decoration.. ;)
Unfortunately, these are likely to be outside of my budget.
I don't mind the design of the '94-'04 Mustang, but the room in the back is practically nonexistent, so they're out.

So going to be hunting for an '87-'93 Mustang for fairly cheap when the time comes. (Again, with some "Nods" towards the BoB once I'm done with it)
Got a couple here in my city that I'm "stalking" (They're both a block off of a couple of my semi-regular driving routes, so I make a slight detour once in a while to watch for For Sale signs.)
And will take a more proactive plan once the Missus' Outback is Paid Off.

Missed opportunity last spring on a 64,000 mile SVO Mustang. (Silver on Gray... An SoG)
Beat up and needed some Impossible to find SVO-Only parts, but the price was right.
Unfortunately, It was snapped up less than 24 hours after it went on the curb with it's for sale sign. Lol.

Coulda slapped some GT Mustang and Mercury Capri parts I have on hand onto the thing and made a fun daily driver out of it.
(GT Hood and front bumper, Capri rear bumper, taillamps & sail panels)
AND as a bonus, earned the ire of the SVO Purists out there for bringing an otherwise wasted SVO back to life with non-correct parts.

Also have a couple of European and oriental models I'd certainly give consideration to if my shop came across anything suitable as a repairable..

I love those 71-73 mustangs and 70-71 Torino's. I wish I had the dough, because I would have one of each. To me cars are not for flipping, they are to be enjoyed, and I would rip the guts out of either one till they go no more. And then get them rebuild so I can start ripping the guts out of them again. To me the act of using a trailer to take a car to shows is lost on me. I like my cars with the stone chips, that means they are driven. Garage queens? I respect people keeping their car out of hail, but rain won't kill a cars paint.

WOW, That Torino looks really awesome! Dare I say, excuse the heresy, better than a BoB to me. It's because of the front end that looks much better than concorde mod kit on a Falcon. I don't know, it's just that concorde front end always looked too ahead of its time and didn't really fit a Falcon which is - face it - a muscle car. Now the modded front end of your Torino looks damn mean and fits the rest of the car too. All that it needs are zoomies, roof spoiler and a blower. Good job, hi res pics plz too next time.

Taipan, I think you are missing the point of the BoB.

Not sure how old you were but at the time pretty much all australian cars were boxy and rectangular.

The BoB was supposed to look like something we could recognise but with a mean modernised look.

Similar with the yellow cars. It was a HUGE deal to most of us young people that the cars had TWO flashing beacons on the roof, let alone a red one and a blue one.

Most cop cars in Australia at the time had single beacons in blue, some highway/traffic cars had two lights, and some even had a stripe down the side.
