Terrible choice of music, makes it feel like a slapstick movie, especially after that Max's little 'jump' moment, that was very odd and comical looking. Not sure if I'm going to like Hardy's performance in this, especially after some comments on here from people that have seen it.
1st trailer was miles better IMO.
Mad Max: Fury Road Theatrical Teaser Trailer #1
Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Theatrical Teaser Trailer #1
Gotta disagree. I thought the music was great. It gave it an 'old school' feel which, in a way, is rather appropriate for this movie. It also sets it apart from all the other blockbuster movie trailers that all feel sorta the same. For me the only knock was the firestorm bit at the end which seemed to run a tad too long. Otherwise, it was great.
Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Theatrical Teaser Trailer #1
My take on the trailers is that they are both brilliantly crafted.
The SDCC one was fashioned more for you tube and the tech savvy while version two is made for the grandeur of a theatre and all the "cant get at home" elements that brings. At first I thought the firestorm was a tad long but if your in a 3D Imax theatre watching the trailer, it would probably be too short. This is gunna tear a new one in cinema convention.

I find the music fitting as it contrasts with how BATSHIT INSANE that world is. Villains in previous movies were crazy but this just takes the cake, they're a bunch of lunatics with vehicles. Surprisingly the only ones who don't seem to act crazy are Max, Furiosa, Immortan Joe and Nux without his adrenaline rush piping. I think someone described Nux as a puppy, crazy, dumb, loyal puppy that just doesn't know what to do when he's left all by himself. Sure looks like it in this trailer.
It should be called NORMAL MAX now after seeing the world in better light...

Miller is really pushing everything to 11 here (speaking in guitar amp terms). It's like MM2 but without the good guys. Humongous to the extreme and Aunty's ideals through the window. There is no hope.
Compared with the original trilogy... Original movies were about the character arc going from mad to peaceful and accepting in a desolate world. This one reverses it: desolate character in a MAD, MAD world.
I imagine if the MM1-era Max was to see this movie, he would've gone back to Fifi and asked for a desk job.
And I really, really dig Millers vision/main theme in this one: it was never about the ORDER, it was never about the FUEL, or WATER, or BLOOD. It's about PEOPLE. You can have all the order, fuel, weapons and water in the world, but without the people, you don't have the world. Clever. Papagallo wins. (and Furiosa is definitely Papagallo, but with more balls.)
Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Theatrical Teaser Trailer #1
I felt a little like that when I first watched it. I think it's mainly down to familiarity. However, that said, the first trailer felt like it was firmly putting a stake in the ground and promoting real action. It felt weighty, gritty, and honest. This trailer feels like a reversal of that. I didn't expect to see all that real action overlaid with explosions, dust, and super imposed vehicles and, to me, it actually detracts from the action rather than enhances it. It feels very much like the other blockbuster trailers out there, a spectacle but not really a believable insight into a different world.Ol' Coyote wrote:I don't know why but i might be in the minority (or the only one) that like the first trailer better than the new one. It's notvthat the new one is awesome because it is, we get to see some good action scenes and more dialogue from Max. But the first trailer has that charm that reminded me a bit of the old movies. This new one gave me a completely different feeling. Not saying it's a bad thing though.
However, we have to put ourselves in the shoes of the modern young theatre going generation. While we're witnessing real action bowing out to cgi they will be seeing it go the other way in this movie and for that Miller, WB, and the production team should be applauded.

Love the new trailer , the music is a bit Hollywood but I get it , lots of goodies in the video when you start pausing it
Heres ya water
A quick glimpse of Iota looks all mutated CGI really evident here
some of the vehicles look out of proportion ?
Other things you can see: the saw truck in action very quickly , Megan Gale gets run over by Gigahorse ( can't wait for female Fury Road cosplayers at a con near you in 2015
)

A little comparison for the hell of it.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Theatrical Teaser Trailer #1
Yeah I liked the first trailer, had a better feel to it with its music and such, this new one felt a bit weird, its like a weird mix of Mad Max 2 and Thunder dome.
Personally I found it hard, by watching the trailer to make a connection with the previous films, I'm not sure how they link, being a squeal after all (?) I guess they had a to cater for the general public who wouldn't know much about the originals though.
Looks alright but would have loved to see more shots of the Interceptor!
