He has a very valid point.
In places like NY/NYC, NJ, Conn, Mass and many other US states, they have very strict laws on vehicles with blowers and the height they can stick up from the hood.
Don't want to get tickets everywhere I go.
What I'm looking for though is a completely done vehicle.

Illegal on Australian roads. You'll get defected. MR800 and MR804
You can not have anything that is more than 6cm above the hood profile, and if you do, it must be enclosed in a scoop that is no higher than 6cm from the hood profile and it can not have any sharp edges on it.

In my case, I purchased a clean and registered hardtop in Australia sight unseen late last year for 25,000 AUD after shopping around for twelve months.



Since then the total amount spent for my registered and reliable weekend cruiser including registration till 24 Dec 13 and comprehensive insurance till 10 May 13 is 28,423.92 AUD.

I've confirmed two Australian tyre suppliers can supply the rubber at a total cost of 968 AUD (less shipping):

BF Goodrich Radial TA 235/60R15 at $209ea
BF Goodrich Radial TA 295/50R15 at $275ea

Considering the panel and paint would be an unknown cost plus specific mechanical replacements/improvements unique to the vehicle discovered during the build, estimate what the complete conversion would cost from there.

For now I'll cruise but maybe one day... a pursuit special with removable blower and zoomies registered for weekend Toecutter chasing!

Paint will be around $6-8k..most of the cost is the prep work required. Fitting the spoilers and flairs is fairly easy. I'd keep your regular exhaust and get a fake set of bolt on zoomies made so you can put them on outside the car shows and be legal. The bower is always going to be the killer. The way around it used to be to build a frame over the engine and stick on dummy blower held down with velcro. It could never be spun, but it did meet the requirements that it would break off with 4kg of pressure. Unfortunatly the national standards changed last year, and you can't have anything above the hood, and even if it is in a scoop, the scoop can not be more than 6cm high. The rules on wheels also changed; you can change wheel size by no more than 1cm higher or wider (there goes the big fats on the back).

I've been to car shows where the police waited outside and pulled over every car to try and defect them. They are really cracking down on anything modified.

Removable Cobra scoop seems to be the way to go in Australia and a close relationship with local Police:

I can post pictures of mine with police cars too, doesn't mean it is street legal.

The thing is that if they do not meet ADRs, you can be booked. If you have an accident, your insurance company will probably investigate and if they find the car does not meet ADR (there is a clause in every policy about modifications and they been approved/legal), they will drop you like a lead balloon and leave you liable.

Looks like the whole package from www.madmaxcars.com is only slightly more. My advice is always to ask folks who have used both kits (several can be found on this forum) or at least seen both, and get what you feel is an unbiased opinion about the quality of the fiberglass work in particular, and of course on all of the other fabrication.
I know that (for example) the Weiand parts available from MMC are the ones that Holley also now uses on their functional 'vintage reissue' Weiand blowers.

I looked everywhere in the US but no one either answered me back or was interested in selling.
I guess I'll have to settle for a new Dodge Challenger Shaker with manual transmission in black and modify that...
