Nope. The braid is well before the hinge. The flange joint would stop the door swinging open.
On your idea, when the doors open, the entire 8ft rear length of the pipes swings out on the doors? Not buying that.

What they've done is to cut the lower section off the door and weld that to the chassis, shortening the door length, and angle the rear of the door up, as you can see in these pics.
(it's also good to see that after the war they can not only make tires, but be able to stamp them with company names of today!)

When Mad Max 4 fell thru in 2003, Gibson announced his retirement from acting, to directing. So Miller had to come
up with a new plan while making Happy Feet. But he ended up having more ideas, and it blew out into a new trilogy.
So, casting for a new Max was then centred around a new Max for a new Trilogy. Not a post-Thunderdome Max, or an
in-between MM1 & MM2 Max. Under those circumstances, all you do is retro-fit the main, bare bones iconography that
people identify as Mad Max, the car + costume, and reorchestrate the story setting for 'post'-modern times. It's really the only
option Miller had, but you get a brand-spankin' new TRILOGY to play with. The whole beard thing is probably for a short synopsis of where Max has been before the first movie. And the whole new universe is supposed to be centred around different tribes and whatnots.
Well, did RW-777 hit the mark or what?

Yeah. I still think it would have been easily fittable into the old MM world.
Consider this idea:
The great northern tribe from MM2. Every 10 years, to honour the Road Warrior called Max who saved them, they select the fittest, fastest person from amongst them. That person is then given a car they've built (a replica interceptor) to head out into the bad lands to help others, the way the original road warrior helped them.

It only takes a 2 minute montage scene and voice over to set it up, and bam, into the action.

Whats nice about this idea, is that you can have constantly changing Maxs, and different tribes/gangs to run into each movie. You can even have different cars that max drives.

I hate that idea. Sorry.

I only came in here to ask a novice question but had to say that yeah, that's not a good idea. Not for Mad Max anyway. Sorry.

As for the question, and this is something that's narked me since the Feral Kid on the back of the rig in Road Warrior: Various times in Fury Road we see characters standing on the front/side of the War Rig and holding onto the blower/engine blocks and the side exhaust pipes to steady themselves. Forgive the question from someone who knows next to nothing about how this shit works, but wouldn't those parts of the rig be practically white hot at those points of the movie...?

Yes they're piping hot and Nathan Jones even mentioned on his FB that he got burned by a blower and that shot made it into the movie. If I remember correctly, they added a sizzling sound to it in post (that's when I went 'oh shit that's that part!'), but I'll be 100% sure when the movie comes out on blu ray.

Yeah i don't think grabbing onto the blower the way Rictus does would be possible at operating temp both that and how he can tare it off it's manifold is stretching things just a lil bit. As for the exhaust stack handling both in FR and RW. The stack that the Feral Kid grabs a hold of on Mack in RW is surrounded by a guard and this is what the Feral Kid grabs a hold of not the exhaust itself. Sure it would have been warm from the radiating heat but nothing like the exhaust pipe itself.
In FR when Splendid grabs onto the stack she actually is grabbing the lower part of the pipe. You can see that area of the pipe has been wrapped in some sort of heatproof bandage. I'm not sure how effective those bandages actually are but i can see this is how they can get away with her holding it in the movie world anyway.

That heatproof wrap is usually asbestos , I winced when I saw Splendid grab it it sure as hell would have been hot , what got me as well was they were pouring water on the engine to cool it , best way to fracture metal parts lol
