You seriously need to take off your feminist glasses, because that whole paragraph about The Wasteland failing because you saw into the future and saw its demise based on going back to the same level of representation seen in MM2... wow. That wasn't grounded in reality whatsoever now was it? Also, can I borrow that magical crystal ball that shows you the future?

I was citing examples of how getting women as an audience has helped both Fury Road and The Force Awakens, sorry if you thought my extrapolation about a movie that's still completely under wraps was unreasonable.

It's been repeated time and time again over here that neither we, nor the director cares who plays the main roles in Mad Max franchise because we love those movies regardless. That's as close to equal treatment as it gets, yet you claim the higher moral ground while being straight up sexist. While we're at it, where were you when the issue of young men used for war in Fury Road was raised? Or did you let that little fact slip past because equality in movies only means more women on screen? Even Brendan McCarthy said the whole feminist angle was blown out of proportion after the release of Fury Road and other issues such as the religious cult angle or disposability of men were completely ignored.

Erm, you know that feminism stands up for men, too? One of the things I listed elsewhere that gave Fury Road feminist overtones was that the two men in heroic roles were both working with the women and also freeing themselves from a patriarchy that promoted toxic masculinity.

The way that you still refer to me as "him", despite having a woman as an avatar and saying many times that I'm a woman, speaks volumes for why I still feel the need to mention this stuff.

Ironically, if nobody had mentioned they had a hardon while typing replies agreeing with you guys, I probably would have just let it rest. I know it's a lost cause, I just get irritated when the positive spin of Fury Road gets hand waved away as women not mattering.

It never used to be, but appears to be a conscious effort now. Aliens and Terminator 2 are examples of very very successful classic actions films which both feature, and are popular with, women.

A fair point, the modern form of marketing to target audiences is a recent-ish development - that doesn't mean that women viewers didn't contribute to those two films being financially successful, which is what we were talking about
