Believe me, that A/C was invaluable on the trip. The Last V8II has NO insulation for the floor. So all of the exhaust heat (and there's a ton) comes right up into the cabin and makes it tremendously hot. With the windows up (except for the back, obviously), the A/C blowing makes it a pretty comfortable ride, because all of the refridgerated air has to pass by the driver and passenger first. Well, I think this one went through at least two Aussies hands first... I sincerely hope Scott doesn't hate my guts. I hold him in the highest regard and give him full credit whenever I'm talking about the wonder of the beastie.

Kevin, my girlfriend will be happy to hear she's been promoted. :)

Bart - Yes indeed, that's on the list of things to do. Scott's solution was extremely clever and very well executed, but isn't intended to last years. So I'm looking at a couple of possible solutions, some of which involve making the tanks useful instead of just taking up room and looking uber-cool. Not for guzzaline of course (660 lbs behind the rear axle is a *bad* thing), but for storage or something else I have up my sleeve.

Please forgive my double-post, peeps. I wanted to point out in Kevin's most excellent photographs that if you look closely in the back of the BoB, in addition to Humungus' mask, there's also Bubba Zanetti's helmet and the Toecutter's meat cleaver that he attacks the Chevy with.

Whoops - I remembered that wrong, obviously. I'll fix that one.

I noticet they were peeling, too. Pretty clever way to do it - looks like they're concrete post forms. More importantly, they let the car look right without having to cut any sheet metal. You could put the rear window and boot lid back at any time, say, if you wanted to put it back to MM1 specs, for example.

I think that they could be made into handy cargo carriers in liu of the trunk, possibly using PVC sewer pipe instead of the pressboard forms. What did you have in mind, or is it a secret project? :)
