Kiki Karriers wants $2,000... to ship it one way. So that's $4,000 for the whole trip. I'm not going to be using them.

I set things up with another company who quoted $1,800 for the round trip. I have to pack things up and get the Machine ready.

I hope this works without any problems. Wish me luck!

Hope everything goes smoothly. Are you going to be flying out, then? Any which way, good luck, and I'll see you there.

So far I haven't received any calls from truckers/companies offering to transport the Machine. It's getting down to the wire, so tomorrow I hit the phones and find out what the #*$& is going on here. :x

Keep us updated, Dave. Just when we thought it was certain...
Oh well, that's event organizing for you.
I hope you consider flying out either way.

So far it's been nothing but bait and switch with the costs. These mother f*ckers. The one company that has been straight with me (so far) says they will have a driver by tomorrow night. Any later and it won't get there in time.

If I did just fly out, I'd need somewhere to stay. If that happens, could I mail my tent, costume, etc out there to someone?

I'll be bringign a two-room tent if you need a place to sleep at the event. Ill be there Friday morning-ish, till Sunday evening.
It's not my tent, but I've used it before, its big enought for two people who dont want to see each other get changed, and their stuff. I'm driving a '96 Tercel, so it's already going to be packed to the gills. If somone else in the LA area can recieve your stuff, you can at least save on not shipping a tent.

Check out the shipping rates for UPS http://www.ups.com/, and the Postal Service http://www.usps.com/. It's getting down to the wire and im not sure if standard shipping will get any packages out here on time for sure. Bring as much as you can on the plane, as long as its not contraband. With express services, both the size of the package and weight will affect your shipping cost. I'm not that familiar with the post office, but I know UPS has a return delivery service, where you can call them, and have them pick up the same packages they sent out.

Wow, I am shocked that it would be that much from KIWI, seems like I have had cars shipped from Florida to Washington for less 1 way. Did you tell them that MMC recommended them?
Either way I hope it all comes together for you, or you at least get to fly out and join the fun!!
