But I am thrilled it seems to be ongoing... Bring it on, I'll be at 2011... living like max for a weekend is going to be FUN.
I'm in the same boat. I got a line on an old Plymouth(I owned the car previously so I know what I'm getting in to) and there's a 383/727 sitting in the garage. I just can't do the walk-on thing, I gotta have my own wheels. This event is only gonna get bigger and better each year. I'll be there in 2011. I'm coming from central Florida, maybe I can get Bart to co-drive and share expenses. 8-)

My plan is getting it together, and making it reliable enough to drive the 1370miles from Texas to the place. Then also providing I get there without getting pulled over in a vehicle that looks like it comes straight out of the movies. Sticking to the speed limits will be hard enough. It says it's a 22 hour drive... Crazy endeavor in a 70's era car... I just need to get a solid drive train sorted out to go with whatever I end up with.

Tell you what, Justice. We can meet up on my way through Texas and caravan the distance. By the time we get there we'll be dirty, tired, and strung out enough to look the part. 8-)

Oh, by the way, the Plymouth deal fell through. The search for sheet metal continues.

If things end up going the way envisioned it's a 2 car show for 1370 miles. The only thing in the back of my head is fuel economy. What would a 302 / 351 or even a 460 do on the highway? I am all for freeway flyer gears (aka, no 4.10's for me). but I imagine you should be happy with 15mpg...

Today I found a '69 Dodge Coronet 4-door in really decent shape. Still trying to hammer out a deal, but it looks promising. Hopefully I'll be rocking the 383 power to Cali for the 2011 gathering. I'm already sketching body mods. :D

I'm very happy to be associated and doing coordination with this event this year. Happy to be working with Karol, Jared and the entire Wasteland Weekend council on this... We have all been working really hard on organization and advertising tactics and promotion.

Time and money and a hell of a lot of footwork is being put into the advertising this year, we are looking to spread word of mouth not just by social media websites (Myspace.com/wastelandweekend , Facebook.com/wastelandweekend , WWW.wastelandweekend.com, etc.) but by physical appearances at conventions to flier, sponsorship of events such as Bat's Day in the Fun Park, media contact, word of mouth and any other means we can come up with to spread the news of this event and drive attendance to the levels they are capable of.

If you have contacts in printed media / radio / Television, ideas, know of opportunity for cross promotion, knows someone who knows someone, etc., please pass it on to us at wasteland weekend.com so we can run with it and make this event the biggest possible post-apocalyptic party ever.

So spread the word to your car clubs, bike clubs, Dance Clubs, garages / mechanics, crazy welder friends, vendors, artisans, DJ's and the like, and have them contact us.

Rene, I'd love to talk to you about help promoting in the San Diego and North County regions... Since I'm local to you, we should meet up if possible. Plus, I have more stuff for your "Bad Cop / Landau Driver" costume you may want to pick over. I know you weren't in our San Diego Caravan last year because of your palm springs trip the day before, but this year, I'd like to have a real road spectacle on the drive up.

We got the 383 stripped to the bare block yesterday. Looks like she'll need to be punched .030 over. Everything else looks great. The project is moving forward. 8-)
