It's the Coachworks in Redfern, Sydney.

I have a feeling that that is where the set may be built, but the cars elsewhere...

I agree that confirmation via photograpic evidence would take care of this one...!

KNEW I was getting that wrong, never trust MY memory! So the press junket with the cars was NOT inside the Coachworks in Redfern, Sydney? I could have sworn that it was held there...... Again, my memory....

That WAS the Carriageworks facility seen at the press conference, but much of the space there was turned into a motion capture studio for Happy Feet 2. The rest of the space is likely being used to build sets and props for Fury Road. I imagine the space isn't appropriate nor roomy enough for the number of vehicles and motorcycles they're building.

People manage to get pictures of top secret military installations in the Nevada Desert for christ sake, this location is in someones back-yard, and in this day of digital camera's cellpgones, etc... you mean to say no-one yet has got any pics? Even grainy ones? Has anybody tried? There must have been occasion when the vehicles were out in the open?
I remember when I lived in Upper Hutt (a suburb of Wellington City) when Peter Jackson & co. were doing the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, there were heaps of photo ops....in fact his studio's in Miramar are smack bang in a residential area with peoples houses overlooking the lot. I went to the Horokiwi quarry and got some sneaky shots of minas tirith, and in akatarawa forest park, some vague distant pics of live filming.
Geez....someone get off your arse....get out there and get something! It's no good calling a thread "New Mad Max cars SIGHTED" when there is no pictorial evidence. If someone sighted anything....then there was a photo op right there! The paparazzi don't give a damn about petty things like confidentiality or ethics....why should we? A few photo's of static cars that have already been shown anyway at a press release won't harm anyone.
Credibility anyone?

Yep you're right, too easy to take photos and post them anonymously these days. That's why all big films have stuff leaked on the net during production.

The only difference there is my pics were crappy, and I kept them to myself. No one else saw them and they have likely been lost now. I understand the sensitivity of such things....but the production company of this movie has already shown a few cars relative to the production. In just what capacity those cars are to be utilised is anybody's guess. So I don't really see the harm of joe public getting a few snaps of the same cars in a different place. They must have the place locked down as I can imagine.

3 days ago they just scuttled the boat Peter Jackson used in the film King Kong, that thing just sat in dock for years rusting away, until the local council got fed up and had it sunk! Another piece of NZ movie history consigned to the depths. It was a shame a good investor who Could walk the walk couldnt have developed it into a floating bar/restaurant etc.... The tourism dollars would have been huge! Shows just how shortsighted people in NZ can be!

I would be satisfied with just a recollection of what was seen at this point, did any of the black falcons have two big tanks on
the back? any cars with MFP letters? were the bikes steampunk style or 70`s kwakas? how often do i turn a 3 inch steak on the bbq? etc
Its like...
Ran into Mel at LAX yesterday, nice guy, asked him if he was in Fury Road, I was gobsmacked when he said.............................................
