Humvee, I'll pass on word to Scarlett.
March Hare, I know what it's like to enthusiastically offer up your talents and time to only get silence in return. It sucks. But please be aware that Scarlett is very busy and simply doesn't have the time to reply to every e-mail when she gets it. She will reply to everyone eventually. Let's not forget that there are still 6.5 months left before the event. There's plenty of time. Please don't just assume that anyone is questioning or dismissing your qualifications or potential value to the event. Don't take it personally.
We're doing the best we can - everyone please be patient and understanding as we sacrifice our time and energy to try to deliver the best Mad Max event in the history of the universe. We are doing it for YOU!
I'll be happy to answer everyone's questions and complaints (make sure to read the event FAQ blog first) but please let's keep it constructive and positive in here. Cynicism and negativity will wear us organizers down very quickly.

Thanks for the reply and clarifications Karol. As these events continue from year to year, they seem to get bigger and better, just look at how few were there for RoadWar 101 and the infamous San Antonio 12.LOL.I know that if Humvee comes over 2,000 miles and Jrmaxx comes from North Carolina,it will truly be a nationwide event.I am really hoping the passes are clear for the NW brigade and mainly for Humvee.Good to know that this is getting a little better organized as things come together.Cheers,Bill

Re: Ticket Prices Go Up After May Instead
Thought I'd mention that when I put the new location into mapquest it told me that it's about an hour and a half from downtown Los Angeles. Even if that's a little off, that's still really close!
Close enough that people who didn't want to camp out or get a hotel could still "commute". If that location is locked down, it may be worth mentioning on the flyers about how far from LA the location is. Many Angelenos are clueless where anything is that's East of the 5 or North of the valley.
I think with the proximity of this location to a place like L.A., we have the potential to get a VERY good crowd for this. Even people that aren't fans might be drawn to more of a post-apocalyptic-themed version of Burning Man without the hippies.
The current flyer is great, but maybe someone could put one together one that has less info and more pictures. They can get all the info when they go to the website - we need some eye candy that people will pick up from a stack of club and band flyers at a place like Amoeba Records or some of the edgier clothing stores on Melrose. A half page size or smaller one is easier to leave in a stack at those places - A teaser flyer that would make someone say - "What the F is that? Cool!"
Anybody feel like putting one together? Maybe with some pics of fans in costume (maybe some of Karol's bartertown guard costume pics if he doesn't mind) or just cool shots from the movies? Pics from previous roadwars?
I'd even print a few out in color for various bulletin boards.
(I'm thinking of an alternative flyer to the other one, not a replacement.)
Karol - think we'd need Scarlet's permission first?

Sounds good to me, Jared. It would be great to get help from the forum on a small flier. A 4-color 4x6 card advertisement sounds like a great idea. If someone could design it, that would be fantastic. Anyone is free to use any of my content from www.RoadwarUSA.com or Madmaxcostumes.com for the flier if they want.

4x6 sounds right.
And if no one else does it, I'll do one myself in a few weeks. It's just not my specialty. Hell, there's no reason we can't make more than one of these so we have something to choose from.
I would suggest it should basically say:
Road Warrior Weekend Event
Mad Max style mayhem in the Southern California desert
November 20-22 2009
www.myspace.com/roadwarriorevent
Music. Camping. Leather. Engines. Apocalypse.
Or something... Basically just a little text and some photos to get them to go to the website. If someone does make one of these, please try to keep (or give us) a version that can be easily changed text-wise in case we need to make alterations.

Let me put it this way: my truck is four wheel drive, I've driven through 16 Michigan winters, and there is no way I'm going to be stopped by some stinkin' pass after driving 2,000 miles for the biggest Mad Max event of my life! Stupid freakin' pass! Bring it! I'm not afraid of you!
About the ticket I paid for, is there any way I could just have it sent to someone else? I've received an offer for it by someone who needs it. I know this must be low on your priorites, but if it's possible; whenever you get around to it is cool.
Just my $0.02, but I am impressed by all the volunteer work that Karol and Scarlett are doing. To me, that is the sign of a true fan. (In my own little way, I do the same by making costumes and such for others to wear for free.) But that is nothing like the selfless dedication some are showing for this event. I take my hat off to you.
Oh, and I love the selling point of "Burning Man without the hippies."

Meant to ask - Karol, when does the ticket buying link go live again?

Re: Ticket Prices Go Up After May Instead
Jwrites, that is a loaded question. It implies that the link is still dead or inoperable.
Go to the MySpace page for the event, scroll down until you find "Buy your ticket here." Then follow the link.

Karol,
That's exactly how I meant it. The link on the myspace page goes to your page just fine, but after selecting the type of ticket I want on your page, nothing happens.
If other people are getting their tickets just fine then maybe it's a problem on my end. I can email you privately about it.
