Heh heh, nice one, Biker.

Can anyone post a good shot of Max's right boot? I want to see how he has the knife sheath riveted to his boot (if that is the case).

Thanks HUMVEE. I wish I was be able to grab you a shot of his boot from the DVD but after a PC upgrade the little function of grabbing a pic from the film seems to have stopped working on my power DVD program.

Maybe someone else can help you out.

Any takers?

I have a Gerber MkII myself. For some reason they stoped making these like 15-18 years ago and they have become a popular collectors knife. You might try eBay to find one, or a knife forum. http://www.bladeforums.com has tons of info.

The knife sheath in Max's boot is on the right inside of the right boot, it is like custom made or a highly modified version of the stock sheath riveted or sewn to the inside of his MFP boot. My knife is all black coated, and in a Nyvlon cordura based sheath.

Biker try right clicking on the capture (camera) button on your power dvd for options as to how and where to save screen captures to.

Deaths Head, I believe you are mistaken about where Max has the knife. I just captured some scene shots, and it is clearly on the outside of his right boot. I can't really see how it is stuck in there, so I suppose any way I come up with will work. I'll post how I do it after it arrives and I finish the job. Have to see about modifying the sheath, too.

Damn right those Gerbers are collecter's items; very hard to find. I just bought a Gerber Mk II for... well... not too much. It does appear to be a good knife, so its worth it. Hell, its Max's knife, so of course it is worth it.

Biker, I get my screen shots by pausing the movie where I want it, then holding Ctrl and clicking Prt Scrn (Print Screen) in the upper right of my keyboard. Then I open my Paint program and Paste it (Ctrl+V) there. Works quite well, if I do say so myself.

At 12:17 it's on the inside of his boot when he pulls it on the Gyro and at 13:25 approaching the peak of the lookout. Just looking now for more captures. It's might be the shorter Gerber leather sheath just tucked into the boot, with maybe a stitch or rivet to hold it.

Huh, that's weird. I looked at the scene where he scares away Wez and walks back to the Mack, and BAM, its right there on the outside. Maybe this is another flub?

I've had several boot knives with a clip on style attachment. I always assumed that Max's knife sheath was held this way (although I am not familiar with this particular Gerber sheath). That would explain the different placement by a the costume/prop crew.

I just took a few screen captures, and here you can see where he has the knife:

And here you can see the sheath is the type with a snap to hold the knife in place:

Just my luck, the knife I bought doesn't have that snap. The search continues...

Thanks for the compliment, Driver. I recognized the knife because at the time I owned one. Mine had a sheath with a thumb-break release and a stainless belt clip. It has since grown legs and walked off(I know who helped it grow legs, but thats another story). After seeing the film grabs, it looks like Max had the standard belt sheath with the belt loop cut off.

And I'll throw in with your gang when the SHTF, Biker. I got enough stuff in my safe that we could do some serious mayhem. But I got dibs on the FAL. I just love the penetration power of the 7.62 round.

I now have my Mk II in hand, and I must say it is a very solid knife. No big surprise that Max carried such a quality knife. It fits well in the hand, seems very sturdy, etc, so I'm happy with it. However, it did come with a heavy canvas/nylon sheath, and I need the leather one with the diagonal snap. Anybody know of one, or want to trade? My sheath is in perfect condition, and I actually would prefer a beat up old leather one.
