Long-range tank for XB...

Post by RickH »

Cutting out the spare wheel well will give you an extra 20 litres at least.

I've also seen a couple of XB Coupes with custom Torana-style drop tanks. I think it's a good look. Really tough.

That's my dad's Torana. Dad's the one in the black hat. He's had the car since new! 1976.

Raunchy! Very raunchy! Love the color too.

I think cutting out the spare indentation might be enough...if not, then we'll go to Phase II and add height to the sides...like two or three inches...don't want to get the COG too high. We're thinking of two baffles in there too.

This coupe has a droptank, no idea what litre capacity although looks similar to the Torana one pictured above.

Right now, to drive the PT Cruiser (car payment, insurance and gasoline) and have the Interceptor sitting in the garage ("storage" insurance) for a 30 day period, it's costing me $584.ooUS on average. That means I have to work 2 hours a day for the government, and another 1.5 hours just for the cars before food and rent.

I had a drop tank made for my Torana hatch as well.. The guy did an excellent job, he has been doing drop tanks for years, and worked on touring car ones as well. He is just in Mt. Eveyln outside Melbourne. Can get you his number if you wanted to chase one through him. Great workmanship and good guy to deal with as well !

Those drop tanks look really dangerous. There's very little protection from a rear end collision. Are they even legal?
