Any news at all on MM4?

Hey RW, my estimation of you just went up about 25 notches for that posting. As they're fond of saying in North Korea "No worries Mate!" glad you now understand the atmosphere here and can adapt to it.

Re that No tomorrow thread... hmmm I remember seeing it but can't for the life of me remember what it was about now. You can go back through the months and find it easily enough. You're not missing much if you're hoping it has something to do with MM4 though.

So, until something solid emerges on the MM4 front (i.e. when hell freezes over) what are we gonna talk about in this thread now?

Well I do remember now reading that it was a respiced version of Thunderdome from a member of this forum. This guy mentioned that he butchered a bunch of scenes and spiced up some others to make Max more of an asshole. That would be cool to see. Almost any improvement from the Thunderdome would be nice at this point. No Tomorrow sounds more cool of a title than Blunderdome. Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome sounds like an Japanese Anime' title.

Wow.

Haven't checked this thread out for awhile.

Pete mentioned light tanks, I was off and running with Stuarts, and was soundly chastised for going off-topic. Enter Biker to defend my so-called faux pas, yada yada King Tigers, we get back to the new Mad Max movie, and then Mel Gibson gets a DUI.

Finally, we have an offer to make the new Mad Max movie, but who knows if it will. Truely. Kick ass...

I dunno how the latest Gibson dust-up will affect the future of the Mad Max series. On one hand, it puts the kibosh on his acting and directing career in Hollywood or anywhere. On the other hand, if he does get a solid offer to do another Mad Max project, he may take it just to get back in the game. Too soon to tell.

Further thoughts: How will the latest events affect people's perception of the existing Mad Max movies? Have they lost credibility? The jokes come too easy.

And as a sidebar for any interested parties (WARNING: OFF TOPIC)

I'd love to restore an early M-3 Stuart to North African campaign specs. Not British 7th Armoured, but US forces at Kasserine or El Guettar. Maybe a Haunted Tank replica...?

Hey Stu, don't take the lack of responses here, besides Mitch's that is, as an indication of lack of enthusiasm.

It's just that so often people with big ideas come along and sorta don't deliver. That or the prospect of an independant film company might be the one that MM4 is made kinda leaves me at least a little off balance. I dunno.

Your plan has my head buzzing with ideas and if it could be done then great! The next question is.... how?

Stu, respect to you for your enthusiasm but I can't see a script for MM4 being handed over to anyone,It is George Miller's 'baby' and after working on it for the last 14 years plus the fact pre-production actually started it would seem odd to just give up on it to a low budget production with no Mel Gibson (whether he's an asshole or not).

Yes, it was a low budget production that got things moving back in 79 but the films have moved on since then and there's no way Warner Bros. are gonna take any chances on losing possible big bucks on a franchise like this just for the sake of putting out a 4th film just to please Mad Max fans.

If MM4 is gonna get made it's gonna be a big budget production with Mel and George at the helm or it ain't gonna happen.

Stu, There was no doubting your capabalities and no negativaty as to the outcome of any movie you were to work on, I also think that the raw low budget look works and has been the foundation of many cult films to date but I can't see this ever being a continuum of these paticular movies.

What would be more realistic is a Mad Max movie slightly 'packaged' differently,as was done with the 'not official James Bond' Never say never again,made independantely from the franchise, a remake of Thunderball i think,could be wrong!

I think a Max 'related' movie would be more feasible at this moment and leave Fury Road to Miller,if it's important for him to continue the series because he has something good to offer then he'll do it,but if it's just another 'sequel' to bring in the cash then it's best left on the shelf.

Fans will always be more passionate about these movies than the film makers themselves,probably why it makes for such a good debate.

I'm sure Alex Cox picked Mad Max as one of his Favourite cult movies when he used to present Moviedrome on BBC2 here in the UK.
