@ Dave the link was http://z1000goose.hp.infoseek.co.jp/ and http://www.tomokiyodo.com/tbm.html the second one has changed a bit

! Beware of the goose movie clip I have downloaded it twice and each time I have played it it has crashed my machine about 2/3 way through .

Hey kwakka 9 my ltd is a B3 model 79 which has the same motor as the MK2 ,i`ve just taken some photos of it that came out good. There is a company called Tarozzi (i think thats the spelling) that still make rear sets for the mighty zed and they are not so far back as Goose`s so may be good for a rep ?. There is also a kit you can buy to brace a zeds frame I read about a while back ,if I can find the name I`ll let you know.

By the way if you also look slomo at gooses first crash ,where he slides it into the truck towing the caravan, that is the stunt bike too , wire spoke wheels and different seat unit.

Damned! I love that replica from madmax.jp, especially the large wheels and the alu swing arm.

Ah ... the brakes ... have you seen the brakes! Finally we have brakes on a Z 1000!

I would have had that !

thanks for the links neobrit, have not looked at the movie - seemed to have some trouble downloading, but will perservere. The rearsets you have mentioned are available here in Oz, have not seen any in the flesh, but they look well-made and probably worth the $$. I will probably use an old set of home-made rearsets on the gosling, not as far back as Jim's thats for sure. But not for any trips, the standard pegs can go back on for that !

I have seen a frame-bracing kit in the PMC catalogue from Japan, the zeds I have modified basically copy the same bracing used by the US Yoshimura team who raced a Z in the late 70's/early 80's. Can help you with info regarding this if you need any bracing tips. (Those old Cycle Guides were always going to be good for something :-)

the idea of a second Goose bike has always troubled me. What happened to it ? The sh*tter that was in the back of the ute was obviously trashed during that scene. It would be great to know if the second bike survived, I assume this would be the camera bike, was it auctioned off like the other vehicles after filming was completed ??

Bubba -nice brakes indeed, would not mind having a pair of those on the race rig Image

Heres an interesting tidbit I dredged up from groups.google.com doin a search in aus.motorcycles for the words: max goose

It was posted in 1999_____________________________ Airmech said..

Ai> What ever happened to the MFP bike in the "madmax" movie?

There were a few. A workmate of mine years ago, an apprentice sparky,
bought one of them. It was a Z1 with some rather poor quality fibreglass
bits tacked onto it, with a CB antenna stuck on the back as a prop.

The thing was not a good bike, and for its time even, it handled like a
piece of sh*t. He had to do quite a bit of work to it to get it handling
OK.

At the time, I had an old Yamaha XS650, and I was following him out of
work. We went through this series of S bends and one of them had a bit
of a dip in it. I nearly ran over the top of him as the "MFP" got into a
wild tank slapper, he washed off a lot of speed, and I ended up (almost)
up his arse. It was a hairy moment for both of us.

Moral of this story: if an old XS650 can outhandle a bike, then that
bike REALLY is a bad handler..

@kwaka 9

You're asking about the second bike. The first one (the stunt bike) was trashed and later, destroyed during shooting (maybe Zanetti's bike with another paint job, remember the wire spokewheels and the fairing who was similar), but the main bike, the nice kwaka, has survived and was on an event just before the first one came out in 79. There's some pictures of the black on black and the kwaka somewhere on Peter's page.

The foulard around the rear seat of Zanetti's bike was always a mystery to me. Maybe a possibility to screen the MFP logo?
I could probably make it on my own, but I like you kids.

Hi Dave - will check out that lead later - sounds like a good one. "A few..." jeez I wonder how many he was referring to ? and all goose bikes .... mmmmmm. The story about the poor handling is very unsurprising, they handled like a bucket'o'sh*te for the most part

( this can be fixed with careful setting up, well to a degree....) , and i can only imagine that with a fairing as large as Goose/Bubba Zanetti/Toecutter, they perhaps would have handled even worse. The basic reason they could film the scene of Goose's ride in real time, is that the zeds handled better with a pillion !! no bull, this is an absolute fact of ownership. The weight tends to rake the front end out a bit, and this improves high-speed stability. No pillion, and over a bump like the one described in the text, will sure get a stock zedder wallowing in its own exhaust fumes Image

Bubba - i am stuck on 'foulard' - do you mean the seat ? or something else ?

will try to add photo of my goose donor-bike before prang - is this difficult ??

@ Kwakka 9

Of course, I meant the silver colored cloth on Bubba's seat.

i see what you mean. This could have covered something like the logo, my screen saver is the shot of Bubba and Toecutter just after they have arrived in town, just before Toecutter does the big rev-and-kill bit. This shot clearly shows the piece of material you are referring to. It does look a bit strange now I have had a decent look.

Did a bit more work to the gosling, stripped some more paint, its a slow job.
